    That ^

I don't get it. I've always felt like it's a lack of respect to be doing something else while you're with friends. It's the same as if you we're with friends, but then they spend their time calling other people. Hey put your things on the side for two goddamn minutes.

I remember being an ICQ and MSN Messenger freak when in my teens... but I wasn't doing that while I was with my friends.

My younger siblings, when I see them, they are glued to their frikkin' phones. At the table, phone is as important as fork and knife. Looking at it every couple minutes.

I'm guessing that is the same experience as most modern societies.. and I think it's part of a bigger problem, but also shows how frail family values have become.

In NZ they are thinking of banning iPhones in schools during class, can't believe it took this long, when I was at school they took our walk-mans off us or magazines if they saw us with them and didn't give them back till the end of the year.

But in this woke sensitive world, you can't properly discipline, I fear for the future Generations, and how this world will end up.

    God help us.

What playes want out of JA3 is extremely divided it seems. Anyways, from my point of view over the years of following convos and such on the Bear's Pit. It seemed to be way more unified what players wanted from a JA3 than what I've been seeing as we get closer to release. Seems as though way more people seem to want a game clsoer to X-Com that doesn't deal with the macro-management part of Jagged Alliance.

Maybe that is due to playstyle? Types of games played? Age?

As an example, I'm more of a macro-management type of player. I tend to prefer games that go far into crazy detail like walking speeds, bullet count, realistic magazine capacities, recoil. I tend to like games like Jagged Alliance 2, Brigade E5/7,62mm High Calibre, Alfa, Hired Guns, etc... for the more precise approach at those details.. over games like xcom that don't worry about those and focus more on "big picture" stuff.

Brigade E5 / 7,62mm High Calibre even had multiple different walking speeds, but that game also played more like Back in Action (real-time w/ pause).

I want a game that kind of takes pointers from 1.13 with the pouches, vests, gear over a game that ditches those in favour of a inventory system that harkens back to JA1.

For the same reasons I would never go back to JA1, simply because I find the management of the inventory, mercs and other fine detail too simplistic, I also want the detail found in 1.13, but in a new game.

I also find such "unnecessary" detail like walking and running to be important. Anyways, you've mentioned exactly the same reasons I had. But yeah.. I think that stuff is important to the overall feel of the game.

That kind of stuff is good if you've got a lot of time, and not a lot of other stuff to do, but I think with people to day they lack patience and are bombarded with so much stuff (mostly crap) they can't be bothered wasting time on a game with too much detail, and would rather something more quick and easy to get through, then move on to the next thing.

Omg "a lot of work". Walking in games - its basic, its simple. Different run animations too. Lets just pay them for nothing. Please dont do anything, just take our money, we dont want THQ and Haemimont to work. Jesus... Wtf?

I meant it could be more costly and time consuming.

  4. Not sure if there's a walking animation but it does look a bit clone like with them all running the same together, bit of differences in the movements for each character would've made them more unique, but that could be a lot work doing different animations for all mercs and the enemies.

  5. I think the game looks good enough, wait till you've played it fully to completely judge it, and with mods they maybe able to fix things to how you like it, of course depending on the engine capabilities.

The post talking about damage done to the ground, leaving craters, maybe a decal that looks like a crater could be used, especially with bigger explosions like dynamite, c4 or mortars. a bit of soot or burnt mark doesn't seem enough.

  6. If your team or the enemy CAN get captured, make it an option though, that you can choose whether to accept the surrender, not something that's automatic and out of your control, same with your Merc's, if they can get captured, you can accept the surrender or carry on fighting.

  7. I like the idea of surrendering enemy, also retreating enemy when out gunned, I think the latter is in the game, also your team could get captured and you have to rescue them?

With the captured enemy you could interrogate them for info or use them as your own militia.

  8. Maybe this has been mentioned somewhere but I haven't seen it, will we be able to pick up our downed merc's and carry them to safety?

same as with the enemy, will they heal their wounded and pick them up? could make for some interesting gameplay.

I agree on the animations, the animation where the enemy just fall over the same and don't react when shot, it could be more varied, There's lack of sound also from the enemies when injured or dying, but maybe they haven't added those in?.

I take back on what I said about the enemy falling over the same, I saw some more footage and they do die differently,

Only thing is when you hit them there's not much feedback or reaction, they just seem to absorb it.

That aside, a high degree of visual customization would also be welcome. Again, I know XCOM2 isn't liked by anyone, but the visual customization options in that game are absolute top tier and gave a huge amount of freedom. I could sink hours in it, I think it added a lot to the game.

Anyway, the previews are great, Haemimont did a great job so far.

I agree on the visual customization showing the armour and equipment on the merc, but I understand why they didn't show it, so everyone doesn't end up looking the same, their suppose to look like a 80's action hero. Maybe have it as an option?

Also Is there free aim?, so we can target gas tanks or other things in the environment, maybe a rope that's holding something heavy so it drops on the enemy or a gas tank near a group of enemy.

The animations are a bit to cartoon-ish.

I really think having "Almost dead animations" should be a thing. It looked very severe in JA2 when a merc or enemy were walking around holding their side and almost dragging their rifle behind them.

I agree with the lack of wounded animation, some blood dripping on the ground when they walk or limping animation would be good.

You severely wound the arm or leg it effects how they use the weapon and how they move.

I wonder if the bodies will remain on the ground, and when you come back to the sector they're still there with birds pecking at their remains? or is that to much to ask.

  12. On the positives though, the world design looks real good (hope there'll be some animal life in there), hope we can zoom out a bit more and from a top down view, I liked the sounds and music, getting the JA2 vibes from the music. Also the inventory seems ok, I'm not too bothered by it like some are.

  13. The NPC screens look a bit meh, I much preferred the animated talking heads when having a conversation in JA2, it does look cartoony comic book looking. but I can put up with it. I don't think animated portraits are happening, maybe they see it as too difficult and not worth it to implement?

  14. The old Jagged alliance games and fallouts had real life scenarios and elements while still looking and playing like a game, 3d and modern graphics does take away some of that game look and feel those older games had, modern Fallouts are a good example, but if done right, 3d can still be fun, lets hope JA3 gets it right.

3d though works in immersive style games like Red dead redemption, modern flight sims or multiplayer games like war of rights.

I never played any of the JA games beyond JA2, due to bad reviews. I have read plenty of comments on here about those of you that did buy those 'sequels' and were disappointed and frustrated by them. Sometimes it feels as if it is just too much to ask to have a modern version of an old favourite that respects that game. Some publishers and developers feel that it needs to adopt current trends, regardless of whether the fans want that sort of thing.

It looks like that with JA3, we can finally get a game that follows in the footsteps of JA2 in a successful manner. It is obviously still too early too tell but other than modernisation and the things that we are requesting to see in the game, the developers are respecting the classic JA games as much as possible. With all the other JA games after JA2, there was always something that immediately let the series down, whether it was the graphics, the gameplay or the fact that  they didn't have much in common, other than being called Jagged Alliance.

Was there any feedback between fans and developers of those sequels during the development or is JA3 unique in that aspect?

The games set in early 2000's, it doesn't have to have modern.. should I say it.. "woke" themes, and not every game needs to copy Xcom or whatever the popular trend is, be creative and do your own thing.
