  1. I think other games have shown that the intentions & efforts of the developers are probably more important in creating maps that can be approached in multiple ways than map size or content (like roofs) or anything like that. Rage seemed like it was meant to be played as a stealth game, taking out one enemy at a time. It just seemed like all the other strategies were treated with lesser status by the game's design and I ended up just having Raven go around with a knife to stealth kill everyone. Back in Action had these huge sections of flat or nearly flat maps that the pathing couldn't go through. It seemed like they just forgot to check something to make those sections traversable. It just felt like the developers actively wanted to take options away from players in a way that isn't obvious from screenshots. In both cases, the size and content of the maps didn't matter. That made both games much worse and more boring.
  2. To each their own, but the original Jagged Alliance games were full of humor for me. I was constantly laughing at lines from the mercs and other absurd things that happened. To this day, some of the original lines make me laugh, despite having heard them hundreds of times by now. The humor was one of my favorite parts.
  3. Now I am really excited. Mr. Currie, I played Jagged Alliance, Deadly Games, Jagged Alliance 2, and Unfinished Business around their original release dates and really enjoyed all of them. Jagged Alliance 2 remains on my list of my favorite games that I have ever played. Thank you for everything you did on those games to provide me so much entertainment. The new conversation system looks excellent.
  4. Still does, if you're interested. GOG has patched their version to fix some of the issues with the original release and get it to play better on modern operating systems. For an almost 30 year old game, it is pretty decent.
  5. I agree completely. Among the many reasons why I didn't like the later games with Jagged Alliance in the title as much as Jagged Alliance 2 is just how narrow and shallow they were. They added a few things to the experience, but they were missing so much of what made Jagged Alliance 2 so great. And then they twisted the knife by having the games reference things like not going into the mines and just showing art of dead bloodcats. It would have been better to just completely ignore the parts they chose to remove from the experience.
  6. This is very promising. I played most of the other Jagged Alliance games at release, and Jagged Alliance 2 specifically is still on my list of favorite games of all time. The more recent games with Jagged Alliance in the name (the ones that Sir-Tech had no involvement in) all seemed to miss what made the Jagged Alliance games great. I'm always hopeful that someone will get it right and I'm encouraged by everything in this shared vision post. Thank you and best of luck!
