  1. I guess it depends upon what they are changing. I was thinking they could address the UI promptly and then delve in to the functionality later. I'm guessing they want to do it all in one go instead though.
  2. Thanks for this post, very helpful. It's a bit strange they aren't planning inventory changes until much later. I think this means they are reaction to feedback and didn't plan to have to. That's rather ironic given how many complaints there were about the inventory while the game was still in development.
  3. I like it a lot also. I think the reason we have what's in the game now is for easier visibility on steam deck. Hopefully we can get something like this as a choice at least.
  4. I think it's not so much unpolished as it is narrowly vetted and tested. Seems like not enough different opinions were involved in the design process of the game or the ones involved were too similar which lead to these really obvious issues. It basically needed more varied beta tester input on the game. The easiest example is not being able to enter turn based combat at any point. How that was missed is unimaginable. Another is the inventory system. I don't mean the general simplification for ease of play but the weird excessive scrolling UI among several things. Maybe it was for Steam Deck reasons but there should have been a better choice. Not being able to know where your mercs are with regards to fatigue is another, even if you like the removal of the stamina system you have no idea where you stand with fatigue.
  5. LOL! I've heard of iron man and bronze man but this is dead man.
  6. That is a work around but she is one of the best scouts in the game with her 95 wisdom. I think for me I'll just remove/replace her wall hacks ability via modding so I can use her in a reasonable way.
  7. I agree that Livewire's ability is grossly OP and that's fine. It's a great tool for people new to the genre so I can see why they added it. Anyone looking for more challenge though should definitely never take her. The down side is that she's a great mechanic with high wisdom and no one else has that combo at low level.
  8. I think the main reason usable vehicles are not a thing is so that leadership affecting movement speed could be a thing. I rather like this mechanic as it makes a rarely useful skill more diverse.
  9. Ooof. This might be difficult for them to fix because of how their game engine is modeling bullet physics but something needs to be done to prevent this. Best way it to probably make shooters ignore all obstacles 1 tile away from them. Only issue is that a target hiding on the other side of a wall would be blasted through it. Definitely needs to be addressed though.
  10. You're not wrong, but your attitude sure is. I would like to request inventory improvements as well.
  11. I agree with all of these points. Overwatch it so weird in that you can get more shots off using it than possible during your own turn. Also going back in to stealth is too easy. You shouldn't be able to take a shot, miss then go back in to hidden next round because the you are so far away from the target. Unless the engagement is completely broken off you should be unable to hide again after alerting an enemy.
  12. Actually you can. The way you balance it is by making the enemies use mostly low end weapons at the start then gradually increasing weapon power the farther you go in to the game either measured by distance, time, or both. This way you can control what the player gains access too. JA2 did this to a degree in addition to not having 100% loot drop. One draw back is you fight a lot of pistol/SMG enemies and it makes progress feel slow. This gives a feeling of forced, gated progression knowing that you'll never get a really cool gun from a drop for a while. Another is that enemy diversity/power options are lacking as you can't give them better guns but have to rely on numbers, positioning, and map layout to challenge the player. That might sound good on paper but it actually limits the strength of your enemies quite a lot forcing them to only have a chance via cheesy tactics. As for ammo shortages specifically, as I suggested before maybe they could just increase the ammo drop rate and not the gun drop rate which would help alleviate the situation. Also more ammo crafting locations, including adding one on the starting island, would help.
  13. I'm sure a decent part of it is RNG. Also the first rifle you get, you only get limited ammo for it. If you don't find or make more quickly you can no longer use it and it's a huge power jump early game. Then as you get other guns similar things happen. You might not get enough ammo to keep using that shiny new gun but other find plenty of ammo. I think the best solution is a higher drop rate for ammo, enough that you only ever have to make specialty ammo you want to but not basic ammo just so your weapons don't become useless. Also more availability at, "shops" helps as a money sink if that's the concern.
  14. Ammo should be made a little more available, at least early on. They said the vendors in game were supposed to be more wide spread and varied as a replacement to Bobby Ray's but they fall very short.
  15. The devs claimed not having Bobby Ray's in the game was replaced with local vendors in game turned out to not be enough. The vendors really need to carry a much larger variety of gear as a money sink so you can choose between merc contracts or gear. This is something that can probably be modded as it seems like it didn't quite hit the mark with the design choice they made.
  16. I think not selling guns was an intentional design decision to make sure you don't get too much money. On the buying side, it's more of a control to make sure you don't get better weapons too early for progression purposes.
  17. Fair question, but they know the answer here so they can control the messaging and explain it if they feel like it. Either way we know it's possible and coming.
  18. But yet you picked an off topic post of mine from 2 months to have further off topic conversations about? The topic is dead, maybe they should lock this thread since we know it's able to be toggled via a mod they are releasing day 1.
  19. *Looks at date of quoted post..* 2 months ago, wow. You just couldn't wait to give me grief after they followed my suggestion about banning toxic posters. But yet here you are again on another alt. Necro-ing my post is just more confirmation, sad.
  20. This might be a problem as he does not appear to be in JA3.
  21. I'm not going to use it either but it's not hard to believe and I think it was the best decision for the game's success (financially speaking). I like that the dev team stuck to their guns but this was a case of giving the players the option I think was more important. My guess is that management pushed this since it created really bad optics not having it. Although the damage has been done, this might be enough to grab those hold outs who swore the game off without the feature.
  22. It was likely done this way because making a mod for it was not only their intention, but a much easier way to add it last minute like this.
  23. The real irony here is that having to pick one or the other creates a tactical choice that didn't exist in the previous games. It also makes the game a little bit more difficult, both things I personally appreciate. Does it smack in the face of realism? It definitely does but this isn't meant to be a very realistic game in the first place.
  24. RPGs are for use against driving hyenas. Got it, thanks!
  25. I'm surprised you weren't banned sooner and from here as well. With posts like this though that might happen soon. Try to enjoy the game and take a much needed break from the forums.
