  1. As much as I love Mike, I really want it to be canon that he died in Arulco fighting the mercs who defeated Deidranna.
  2. I loved Static in JA2, a good overall merc with high Tech stats, not to mention his hard rock looks and attitude. It would also be cool to see some minor characters make a comeback as a recruitable merc, like Ira, Miguel, or Conrad from JA2.
  3. Africa has a wide variety of biomes, perhaps even more so than other continents. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biome#/media/File:Vegetation.png And there are in fact high mountains with snow tops in Africa. Though I would agree that, outside of the pyramids, it has very little old architecture to speak of. As for the big cities, there are actually many cities with over 5 million inhabitants in Africa. Besides, JA games have until now always taken place in fictional countries, so that's a moot point.
  4. I would love for the next JA game to be set in a fictional Eastern European or Caucasus country. And if Metal Gear Solid 3 has taught us anything, you can still make jungle levels if you're in former Soviet-Russia. Other than that, a DLC for JA3 should contain the obvious: more mercs, more guns, more sectors. Personally, I'd like them see explore the Diesel subplot more: for example making it canon that Siegfried got away and that his super-soldiers are now wreaking havoc on Grand Chien. Adding vehicles would also be nice, perhaps another Skyrides who can move your mercs in his helicopter, or even helicopters as powerful enemies on the battlefield.
  5. Ah, that's the one. I did the quest on my first playthrough and ended up with him either leaving or getting killed (can't remember). Will try to hire him this time. Thanks!
  6. Thanks, I didn't know the free mercs didn't count. Another question: who are all the free mercs? Because so far I've encountered and hired Flay, Larry, Pierre, and the Major. I seem to be missing one.
  7. I've had Larry on my team for a while but now that I'm getting near the end-game and I have money to burn I want to get rid of him and get a top-level merc instead. But as opposed to mercs that are hired from A.I.M. there is no 'Dismiss' button for Larry. Is there any other way to get him off the team besides getting him killed in battle?
  8. Here's an entirely biased suggestion: I'd love to see a merc with the Dutch nationality. I don't think the JA franchise has yet seen one. I wouldn't even care if he or she is a complete stereotype (wooden shoes, thick accent, smoking weed, eating cheese, foul mouth, et cetera).
  9. I agree that Livewire's perk is overpowered. Perhaps the devs should consider a limitation, such as only being able to use it once every week, or like you suggested only for the first turn.
  10. This is great news, looking forward to those updates! But one thing I'd like to know: is the team staying together for more Jagged Alliance content in the future? Like JA3 DLCs, a sequel, or even a JA2 remaster/remake?
  11. As for the first: I tried that, didn't work, after talking to him directly. As for the second: it's actually a reference to a line Grizzly says if you have him on the team when you meet him (he doesn't like them commies one bit). 😉
  12. Thank you! I already declined to spread communism when first I met him ("Better dead than red" and all that), so I guess that ship has sailed. Oh well, when diplomacy fails there is always the way of the gun.
  13. Hi there, I'm going through my second run of the game and are in dire need of cold hard cash. I've read somewhere that Chimichango or whatever his name is will give you the income once you've raised influence in the city to 100%. However, this doesn't work. Are there other requirements to get access to the mine income without fighting the commies? Thanks in advance.
  14. The third option is hiring him, isn't it? I managed to do that as well. Anyway, thanks for the replies, fellas!
  15. So I finished the game yesterday (and what a game it has been!). I defeated the Major and saved the President (the Princess was in another castle, sadly). When I talked to Major I was given the moral decision to either have him in jail or have him die. But no matter what option I click, my mercs shoot him. Is it perhaps because Pierre was on my team or because some other event triggered this outcome?
  16. Like, is the team staying together and are the aspirations for a DLC, or perhaps even Jagged Alliance 4 or (and I swoon even as I type this) a Jagged Alliance 2 remaster or remake?
  17. Also note that overwatch shots might fail to initiate if something blocks the merc from seeing the enemy, or if an ally is in the line of fire.
  18. I'd absolutely love a total conversion mod where they remake JA2 with the JA3 engine. It's pretty sure this will happen eventually, though it might take a few years.
  19. Yeah, I agree that the Gewehr 98 is way overpowered for a weapon that's available almost right from the start. I'm midgame now and I haven't found much reason to switch to other weapons. In my memory, JA2 had a more progressive (and thus, more rewarding) development of new arms coming into the game.
  20. This is imho the biggest problem with things like 'Iron Man mode': while they provide the most exciting and challenging gameplay, a single bug can instantly bring an end to your playthrough. Had a similar thing while playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown earlier this year. I was struggling to make it through the missions but managed to do so by the skin of my teeth. And then a glitch caused my highest ranked soldier to end up outside of the map and I was forced to abandon him because withdrawing was required for success. And this loss caused to back into the negative feedback loop where I couldn't get high ranking soldiers because too many recruits died during missions.
  21. Might I suggest maxing out Wisdow? This has always been the prime strategy in JA2 because it means your merc will level up stats faster. Since you'll likely spend the entire game with your IMP merc, this is a very good long-term investment.
  22. I don't know if this mod has already been made, but JA3 desperately needs a path-finding update that makes mercs automatically avoid fire and discovered land mines. Because now they are blindly charging into disaster like a bunch of Rambo lemmings.
  23. "Так" is actually a word found in many Slavic languages and it means as much as "like that." In this context, she is confirming your order.
  24. No-brainer choice as an all-round merc in the early parts of the game and still a solid soldier once her experience level goes up. She's ditsy and quirky, but not over the top, just the right balance between adolescent naivety in her speech and battle-hardened sang froid in her attitude. Love her esthetic, and the voice is just perfect. I don't know why, but the line "If you need me I'll be reading my book" gets me every time.
  25. I'm on my first playthrough of the game, just took over my third mine after one has already depleted and I just got a notification that another mine will start to run out. Money-wise I'm still strong, but it does feel like this mechanic should be toned down a bit. In JA2 it was to be expected that one mine would run out, but I don't think I've ever experienced this happening more than once in every campaign (and I played through that game more times than I kept count of).
