  1. I think I play too much, the only one I didn't know is the last one. I can't think of any others off the top of my head, other than giving booze to Father Walker to make him more chatty.

I'm glad JA2 did a great job of keeping most pop culture stuff out, unlike Fallout 2... I love that game, but hate most of the easter egg stuff. I remember once trying to make a mod that removed all the pop references and fourth wall breaking stuff, but I ended up giving up because there's just too much!

unfortunately, for me, there has been absolutely NO worthy successor since 1.13. My "patience" with the attempts, failures, lacking features has made me not even want to HEAR about any "new" twists on this title; which is also why I am so against any kind of similarities with an xcom-like modern interpretation.

Agreed! Nothing comes even close to 1.13. I really hope JA3 uses the same turn system.

(I've actually completed Back in Action, Flashback, and I seriously tried hard to play Rage, so I am not just "raging" for the sake of complaining.)

Exactly the same here, tho I actually enjoyed BIA. I find the plan and go system a lot of fun.

  3. Hey guys.

I agree with everything you've both said, but I think that modern gamers are as much to blame for all the soulless crap that gets released these days. It's all YouTubers and Twitchers, all jumping on the meme train, all rushing for the next collectible, achievement, daily quest, whatever. None of that crap makes good gameplay.

Most modern gamers don't care about multiple choice, they care about what Google tells them is the "meta" choice. Why waste time trying to solve a puzzle or quest when they can just in instantly get all the answers on their phone. That instant gratification is what ruins things.

That impatient and soulless approach to gaming is why most modern gamers just can't handle a slower games like Fallout, Jagged Alliance, Baldur's Gate, etc. The old games haven't aged badly, it's the modern players that have aged badly, and they're now the ones developing the games. It's the same with modern music and movies.

There are still some decent games these days, but they they always seem less willing to take chances like the older ones did. And who can blame them when everyone these days is so easily offended.

  4. Once you get the hang of it, Back in Action's combat system becomes a lot of fun, but I think a true Jagged Alliance game should be turn-based. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll add both like Fallout Tactics did.
