I'm really happy with this development specifically. You have the freedom of choice and the burden of consequences (i.e. "choices matter"). Good games let you make choices. Sometimes, those choices are 'bad' but it adds to the intrigue of the game. The game is teaching you in those moments. Games that you crit-succeed through to the end are not fun, and I feel like that doesn't really fit with the spirit of JA anyway. I'm looking forward to this system where you can fail forward.
