  1. I am waiting for the devs to release their moddingtools and later expand it's possibilities I am sure this will change the field significantly. But its cool if u already start working on models and stuff and then once the tools release are able to quickly import them
  2. Well why did this work in ja2 then?
  3. What?? Mercs have a 360 vision?? Wtf why??? Oh god this is horrible. So enemies can no longer sneak up on me if i dont cover my surroundings? This is so dumb and a huge letdown. Why would you do that to this game???
  4. love the game, but the irs one particular thing missing that imiss all the time: let your mercs look in any certain direction. I don't mean overwatch. In Ja2 there was one icon for it called "Look" , it just simply made your merc turn in whatever direction you want him to face. I also subconsciously try to click midde mousewheel button to do so. I dont remmember if JA2 was like that, but it would be great. yeah i can do that with overwatch, but it costs a lot AP and makes the merc...overwatch, whitch is not needed. just simply choose which direction he or she looks at. oh, also: sidestep? make the merc face on direction and when moving keep facing that way?
  5. Come on guys, why always the need to citizize something, even if its actually a great awesome piece of offering? Why worry about portraits using hi res images? Everybody can create whatever u dream of by using AI image generators. Want it animated and talking? There are apps that do even that. The age of AI is a miracle for the modders scene. Want a new merc modded in? You can reuse parts of the existing ones or produce your own with blender & co. So stop ur whining and show a lil more appreciation for a dev team that once in 3 decades manage to show the right attitide, ideas and approach to our lovechild! Will everything be perfect in each n every way right at launch? Of course not! I mean how would anybody be able to deliver on that? But what we see till now is the right direction, a lot of work that is done that opens possibilities for the future instead of restricting everything and delivering a closed product like others sadly did. @Devs: u guys are awesome
  6. Question: Will there be a possibility to have a VS or Deathmatch mode, where you can battle AGAINST your buddy? Maybe at least just option to not show your buddy's moves on your screen, so you can just iniate a battle between your guys in your sector even tough you are actually in coop mode... but having the option to not see the others moves&actions would be already offer that in a little way. Or/and maybe something like a dedicated "custom battle" mode, where you can just choose in a dropdownmenu a sector/map as battlefield, daytime, mercs for each side and maybe spawnpoints/areas/map sides. or even load your custom squad of mercs.. and then just have at it
  7. OMG i didnt expect coop at all, i am blown away! plus the modding possibillities....wow... All i have to say is this REALLY looks like my DREAM JA!! what i read between the lines is just the right proper attitude & approach to things by the devs. also things like not constraining to much, embracing unexpected mechanisms as possible features and not bugs, giving multiple options and open ends wherever possible, knowing about the value of indepth modding for the value of the game ... this has the potential to be LEGEND of game for the next decades to come....
  8. Ok, even if they are just level 1 local militia, it still is glaring immersion breaking if ALL of them have the same painted face! I mean, same clothes could be more excused, but the exact same painted face makes them scream "hey I am a duplicated game character, not a real enemy!" How can you even sink into the game, get immersed in it if it's so immersionbreaking?
  9. So i love everything so far, but the enemies outfits... from the footage so far most of them look like they come from a costume party. skull masks or painted faces? and that on nearly every enemy? come on, why not just give us mostly normal, human, militant enemies, and maybe only some special freaks rarely in between? everything looks so good and gritty, and then we get these clowns that completely take away from the immersion. please, pleeease change that
  10. I agree, while i love the map/world design, the characters really need an adjustment. I think maybe the artdirection thought "ok JA Fans loved the funny lines and the individual characters", tried to make them as "individual & funny" as possible, but by doing so overshot into comical/ cartoony/unrealistic area. Espescially the enemies: peg leg, painted face...??? P I mean if this would be a single npc u meet, ok, but to use a model like that as a soldier model that appears multiple times? How is this not totally immersion breaking? This feels like going in the direction of borderlands or similar, which should absolutely NOT be JA's direction!! Like others said,: JA had its funny moments, but they where just more rare sprinkles between all the grittiness and seriousness. Because of the darkness small fun things like a witty line here or there could shine. But now it looks like this oozes out everywhere and i am seriously becoming worried. Its things like this that can derail an otherwise finally awesome take on the game and make it another "failed JA game" Please dear Devs take this seriously and change here before "its too late, we already finished developement"
  11. 38, how many hours? you mean how many years?
  12. I remember a friend of mine introducing me to JA2 by saying : "this is the most brutal game ever! You can even chop off heads" And i have to admit, that was what caught my curiosity. It wasn't that i was a big gore fan, not at all, but showing this level of serious, gritty, brutal reality made this game so special to me. Nothing harder hitting to lose a merc to a headshot with his head exploding. Or killing an enemy this way. The point is, i hope this level of seriousness comes back. I would even add critically wounds, where a merc/enemy just lies on the floor bleeding heavily and twitching around. Adding the stress of urgency to help him. Or if its an enemy to open up the question "shall i end his misery or let him suffer" This is a war game, a game about the most serious gritty things we humans know and do. I hope ja3 doesnt cut back here on what made ja2 special but knows how to skillfully embrace this darkness.
  13. The latest images from the devblog just feed in my fears: The characters outfits look too cartoony and it stresses me already that we cannot change them. Clean, White pants? Colorfull shirts? This takes away from the dark, serious, dirty mercenary feel and makes it.... Cartoony
  14. Great news! But i also have to second my fellow posters concerns about too cartoony characters. JA2 was always gritty and serious. It could be comedic in situations, but that happened especially in contrast to its general grittyness. Also the more i see the more it irks me that the mercs outfit cannot be changed. I mean which professional merc is running around in clean white pants and colorful shirts? I feel like this is gonna be an immersionkiller and i really hope they do change that or give us options...
