  1. Let's just say I wouldn't be surprised if somebody (doesn't have to be the entire company) at Haemimont is making accounts and going into the forums to put a good spin on things.

Or the mods are completely terrible at their job and can't see when an obvious alt is being used...especially if that alt generally agrees with them on the most contentious issues like CTH...

The special weapon mods you could create in JA2 were quite good. You could reduce the AP cost of a gun, extend its range or both on the same gun. Since those parts were very limited you had to figure out which guns to mod as they were permanent. I liked putting both range extension and AP reduction on the Automag III's which made them quite juicy when Fox used them.

It's like another layer of loot progression/rarity because it's special stuff for your favorite guns. I don't think that's a bad thing unless the bonuses are extreme. In JA2 they were noticeable but not game altering so I would hope for a similar balance in JA3.

I disagree, crafting weapon mods would not work.

Basic mods, ok. Advanced mods? Not only would it not be realistic, at least how I understand it, but it would also be an inferior alternative to having to find or shop for them which is much harder but also a lot more rewarding and cool.

A moderately significant mistake made by the team, I think, concerns itself with the perk system, and making the perk system a fixed 9 perks per stat type of thing, which imo is a huge limitation and an artificial one as well. Some stats will naturally have 10 or 15 perks, and that's fine, and then other ones will have far less maybe 5 or 7 and this is also fine.

I think for the benefit of design the perks should be opened up to be both larger than 9 perks to choose from for some stats, and maybe reduced for other stats.

I think this is a very good post.

It's not the only issue I have with the current direction and design philosophy of JA3 but I do think the dev's are artificially restraining themselves for no reason.

Some stats will be less useful, some more. It's just the nature of everything. Trying to balance everything and make strength as equally useful as endurance is bad, imo.

I think their decision to not show armor on characters is adding to this the more footage I watch. I think if they simply showed equipped armor on characters it would add a lot to how the characters look and make them look more like actual military/insurgents/militia/etc.

Yeah you can't have a modern fighting soldier without a vest.

This is just too out there imo.

Where do you put the mags in? In your pockets? What about the side holster. What about the armor.

I'm not sure what you mean about bizzare comments, are you referring to comments somewhere else?

Only weird comments I saw was on dev diary, there were a few people going back and forth.

    1 Disagree

2 I don't know all the perks but the ones I saw weren't about individuals stats being boosted.

    4 No wrong

5 No, the only attachments you could craft in JA2 vanilla was a barrel extender, and maybe 1 or 2 other things.

    6 I don't know I don't care

7 Ok but if its not here now can the OP not talk about it?

You're the only weird comment I've seen here so far, pal.

    It's something weird.

The OP @anon474 already mentioned in another thread how he thinks one of the users here is a bot.

Got it. Yeah, one thing that's stuck out at me since I first started to see videos is the scale of combat encounters. They seem much smaller, more cramped, than the open maps of Arulco.

I didn't catch the first part of the stream, did they talk about the fog thing? That's the strangest one for me, why reduce damage to enemies off screen?

The maps are smaller but I don't think its the worst thing in the world

So for those who didnt follow the stream, they have been talking about this topic again over here:

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1811204423

    at Minute 30:42 onwards

    To give a brief summary:

They had chance to hit in first. Ian (original JA designer) immediately thought it was off (31:55)
The didnt have CTH in the original games due to a councious choice. Not a technical limitation.

And then they continued with what they talked about a couple of times before:

General feeling was, everyone was hunting for exactly the right spots and the right numbers, didnt feel like real firefights.
When they removed the CTH the immediate feedback was that it felt much better.

    Wait IAN DID THIS?

    IAN YOU FOOL!

I have enormous respect for Ian as a developer, but man, this is really unfortunate.

The entire Steam forum for JA3 has about 5 separate CTH articles lol. I think we can all agree not including CTH at this point is a mistake.

If you keep responding to me your account will get removed and shut down, I already reported you once for spam.

This is not a request. I am telling you to stop talking to me and to stop harrassing me.

    You're crossing a boundary now.

Now I am sure you didn't get what my image represents. It's NOT a PROPOSAL. I am not suggesting it should work this way! I draw how I think it's working now and what's a statistical outcome of a rule "miss can't hit another body part".. key?

    Dang is your name Agris?

    Why are you yelling? :classic_laugh:

They have said modding will be enabled so that means some functions will be open to mod. Assuming it's like the Tropico game which are based on Unreal Engine 4 then it should be easy to mod.

This idea of proprietary engines is pretty dated, companies don't make their own engines much anymore due to cost and time but rather use major ones then modify them quite a bit. The core still is there with modding being part of those engine by design.

They have said in the livestream that they are using their own proprietary engine.

Didn't you just get accused of being a bot in another forum thread?

"I don't mean to be rude, but this is fundamentally incorrect and not applicable to type of hit system used in JA3, described in this very update!" You not being rude, you're being hysterical and mad.

Nobody was even talking to you.

Chill and relax. You already got accused of being a bot on this forum once, don't make me think you're going to be a permanent problem now.

Yeah honestly this @agris guy is being kinda troll-y.

  12. Don't get your hopes up too much kids, a lot of engines today are very proprietary as some people have already said, it's not going to be easy to modify things unless they're directly enabled by the developers...

  13. Disagree, unless the full auto requires like 5 bullets or something (because in that case you'll always be 1 bullet short), it's probably a good idea to disable full auto fire if it's going to result in the burst being turned off mid-spray.

If all full auto is 3 bullets, then it's completely fine to turn it off if you're at 2 bullets, imo.

Also doesn't the picture show that there's 14 bullets in the AK 47? This might be something else.
