  1. Best part of the game: The game world, the mercs, the turn based combat, the overall immersion.

     

    Worst part: The UI/inventory including strategy layer (assigning mercs etc), superhuman perks like lightning reflexes, loss of proper JA style stamina system, janky realtime pre-combat

  2. Having JA2 style turn based on enemy spotted would definitely alleviate almost all of the stealth jankiness that players are finding problematic. It seems pretty easy to do, and a much better solution than active pause which just turns it into another game.

  3. On enemy turn, UI seems to be disabled, and camera zooms to the relevant enemy. This is problematic as you can't see who they're shooting at (target is usually off-screen), and how much damage the target is taking. When it's the player's turn again, sometimes you don't even realise one of your mercs needs first aid cos they've been shot off-screen and you had no idea.

    You want to see everything your mercs are carrying all at once, scrollbars will defeat the purpose.

  5. These are good points, esp transparent walls, floor levels and not going back to real time when enemy is not sighted for a couple rounds. Don't agree with map size. I like the variety in sizes, some maps are small, others are truly enormous (eg Port Cacao).

  6. Seeing the merc backpacks associated with the merc makes a huge difference visually. This would still work well for players that use controllers or steam deck. Don't think any extra coding would need to be done (maybe sector stash displaying at the same time as squad stash would need a little code).

    Looks good to me, far more engaging and more functional with just a visual change!
