How many mercs can you control in a battle?

All I've seen so far is that a squad can contain six mercs, but how many squads can you take into battle at the same time? Is it a total of 18 mercs like in Jagged Alliance 2?

That is a good question. An answer to that would also indicate what map sizes we are expecting. No more than six mercs would suggest that the maps don't get larger than what we have seen.

They said quite a few because squads can enter the same square. Thats at least what they said on the livestream afaik, maybe theyll change this before release.
