  1. I think the JA3 portraits dont look bad but could be improved. When you compare JA2 Fidel with JA3 Fidel he does look very different. Buns and MD look better in my opinion. Overall the JA3 portraits are way better than BIA for sure but that were just generic clones. Maybe they could look more gritty and serious. Some are too colorful and cartoony for my taste.
  2. Was shooter with Mark Wahlberg already mentioned? It is a great sniper and action movie.
  3. I think the topic weapon ballistics is very important to the game. Bullets should realistically hit enemies and should also go through people, walls if the caliber is high enough. Weapons must feel fun to shoot and should have an noticeable impact on the enemy. I hope there will be a realistic recoil that effects the aiming and that bullets dont just fly straight in a line through enemies. With automatic weapons I hope every bullet will be calculated and will spread so that also people behind the targeted enemy will get hurt. It would be nice if enemies, mercs who got shoot will have different types of wounds depending on the bullet that hit them. Shotgun shotshells and slugs have a different impact and generate different wounds than for example a normal pistol bullet.
  4. Voice acting with heavy accents is definitely needed. Its so much more immersive and can give every merc their special characterisation.
  5. Yes I am totally with you on that. If animated portraits are done the wrong way it will look really bad. At the moment I am not 100% sure if I myself really want animated portraits, because maybe it doesnt work in an 3D map with 3D models. So its maybe better to keep them as they are. The current radio animation underneath the portraits is maybe the best solution. We are all just so used to animated portraits because of JA2 but if it looks scary and bad we dont need them. And as you mentioned the modding will be way easier for sure.
  6. Hello Devs and Jagged Alliance fans, I wanted to create this topic to talk about the portraits in general. I think they are very important to transport the expressions of the mercs and how they feel. At the moment they are not animated so I thought about that decision. Maybe its a design philosophy, because you can see their expressions on the 3D models? Or are animated portraits too distracting in an 3D environment? Overall I think they could be a little bit more alive so that you can see what the mercs think, feel and what the morale is. They could wink with their eyes, breath and move their head a little bit to make everything a little bit more immersive. If they could move their lips and talk that would be the next big step. Also I think some portraits look very similar to the ones in JA2 (Buns, MD) but others are really different (Fidel). Maybe some could be improved. So what do you guys think?
  7. Thought about that also since the first trailer. The portraits could be more alive so that you can see what the mercs feel and think.
  8. If the final game is as good or even better than the new gameplay videos its a day one buy for sure.
  9. I am totally with you. A good game needs time and testing. I dont care if it takes longer. Its better than playing all the half baked rushed tactic games without soul we got the last 10 years. JA2 is still great because there was passion in it and you could feel that.
  10. I think its great to hear that you have more freedom how you want to explore the map. You can fight enemies but you can also just look for loot or think about your next step to get that sector back. That sounds really good. And the different terrain levels give you even more freedom how you fight the enemy.
  11. Yes but why is this from yesterday? The livestream was today. Saw no new gameplay videos or streams yesterday.
  12. Some mercs arrive at a beach and have a mission. You can sneak behind enemy lines and the terrain has different levels. Also you can ambush the enemy before they notice you. The mercs can climb and there was a huge tower. So as a sniper you can take many positions. When the enemies notice you the alarm goes off and the combat begins. The camera can be zoomed out from what I saw.
  13. At gamescom the Devs got interviewed and finally there is new gameplay! It starts at minute 9:40.
  14. This news sounds great! If all this is true and the combat, strategic layer, quests, story and characters are good we might finally get a worthy successor to Jagged Alliance 2. Sadly its still to early to get excited because we have not seen enough gameplay videos but there is hope. Also that they try to make a perfect mixture of JA and XCOM is the best way I guess. And I am also happy that they dont want to copy XCOM. JA is JA and its so much better than XCOM! I will never understand why JA was more in the underground because there is nothing that is as good and unique.
  15. Thank you for your fast answer. I cant wait to read all the interviews and articles from the team and to hear more good news from you in the future. Its great that we the fans and the devs here are now connected to create the best possible game.
  16. Full voice acting for all the mercs is a must and absolutely necessary for a jagged alliance game. If they cant deliver that they can cancel this project because it will be DOA. For me this is the most important thing that needs to be done right or this will fail. Sure you also need good voice actors and writing too to make this a good game. The mercs should comment every situation and how they feel. After that the combat needs to be deep and the weapon ballistics should be realistic. How projectiles fly through walls and enemies. Interesting and diversified quests are also needed to keep it exciting.
  17. @Biff Yes you are right and thats a sad reality. Some elements I could understand if they need to be removed but where does this end? It seems like that you can not recreate this classic Jagged Alliance feeling because there will be always a part of this series that could offend somebody. Also when you look at the dark humor. But I think the devs need to stay true to their vision of the game or this will turn out to be a soulless product because they have to cut many elements that fans know and like. This youtubers just seek for attention so they will always find something. Today you cant please everybody because its a business to be offended.
  18. When I look at the new trailer I think the game is still in early development. My guess is the earliest release window would be end of 2023. So maybe at E3 2023 we get a build that is close to the final vision of the game.
  19. @Haemimont_Boian Do all mercs get full voice acting in and out of battle? Do they also interact with each other? Example: Some mercs wont work with someone they dont like. Are they commenting every situation? (fear, wounds, anger, alerts, mistakes, humor) The mercs and their personalities are very important for me because they are the soul of Jagged Alliance. Without them its only a generic tactic game. I hope you can answer these questions in the near future.
  20. I think gaming is a peaceful way of art for everyone. Ivan is a fictional character and exists for a very long time. He has nothing to do with todays events. He is a part of Jagged Alliance.
  21. @Wigen: I guess they will show something or this stream would be totally useless. Maybe they give us the first dev diary?! Or its a small interview with the devs? At the moment the game still looks very early in development. We dont even have voice acting in it. But hopefully we get more gameplay clips.
  22. Hello JA3 Devs, i am a huge jagged alliance 2 fan since the beginning and I love this franchise. I am also following JA3 all day and saw your new gameplay trailer. Many parts I liked but as I heard there will be no voice acting I was shocked. For me Jagged Alliance at its core are the mercs and their personalities. How they interact with you and each other. Its so important and gives this game life and soul. This seperates Jagged Alliance from all the other generic tactic games out there. So if you give us only text boxes this game will be a total failure. I just hope that they are missing because of the early development. If not I can tell you that this will never be a jagged alliance game. The mercs and their personalities can only be transported with good voice acting so please think about this! But overall I wish you the best luck with this project. The legendary jagged alliance 2 needs a great successor!
