Fauda

Recommended Posts

Has anybody experience with Fauda? I am interested in trying her out since she was revealed in the dev diarys. However looking at her stats I think she is not worth her price tag especially with the "old dog" trait. And while her ability seems ok-ish I think it is far from beeing as impactful as Gus or Lens ability.

Okay, so I can't compare her to Gus or Lens since I haven't recruited either of them yet but since I recently got her on my second playthrough, I thought I could share my thought on her. Personally, I think she is an okay merc but she is clearly designed to be played in a specific way.

What make her unique: Her Heavy Duty talent make her keep her free move despite being equiped with heavy armours and cumbersome weapons, that combined with her Fast Runner perk mean she's propably the closest a merc can get to a mobile tank.

What she's good at: As she have the Heavy Weapon trait, she can use those effectively. She is also an excellent shock trooper when using a shotgun thank to her good free move and her Breach and Clear perk.

What she can do but isn't her speciality: Ironically, despite being listed as an explosive expert, Fauda isn't all that great at explosive, she can still use the less complicated one like Grenades effectively though, especially when taking advantage of her Breach and Clear perk. She also has very decent Leadership so she will be a good help with training Militia but this should never be your main reason for picking her as Lens is obviously better than her on this point.

What she can't do effectively: Because of her decent but not great Marksmanship and of her low Dexterity, Fauda will never be a great sharpshooter. I also suspect she wouldn't be the most effective user for Assault Rifles.

What could have made her even better: Two perks which would have really helped Fauda stand out even more as a shock trooper would have been Vanguard and Shock Assault. Having slightly better Health and Agility stats would also help in that regard.

Important point: Despite not having the trait Psycho, it is required to have her kill ennemy to be happy. Otherwise, she will ask for more money to stay at your service.

So in a nutshell, Fauda is pretty good at close range, at dealing damage to groups of ennemy and with heavy weapons, all that while staying very mobile. She certainly has a fun playstyle but if you're looking for a explosive specialist, a leader or a sharpshooter, they are better option than her at a lower price.

Overall I think "Old Dog" is a bit useless and unfun. I do not think it is necessary to balance something out or needed for some reason.

Its very much a trade-off, you accept to have a merc who will never improve and in exchange, the rest of the mercs in your team get 10% more experiences. I'd say, its worth it when you got around 9 to 10 mercs in your team and even then, you should limit yourself to have only one merc with the Trait on your team.

Nothing force you to get a merc with the trait if you really don't like it though. There's plenty of alternatives for what Lens, Fauda and Gus offer.

Thanks. I would also be interested if she has any noteable interactions with other characters.

She doesn't really do anything that'd be worth doing, she's not Grizzly who can shoot an LMG accurately from the hip, and you don't need to be mobile for the perfectly accurate explosive weapons.

She... she kinda sucks. Not even that great as a novelty.

Not a lot from what I've seen sadly, but some of her comments in convo with NPCs are pretty good imho.

Would she work well as an imp voice? I mean is she refering to herself by name or telling alot from her background which would break immersion if you use her for another character?

She's one of the more frequent to comment in response to NPC dialogue/conversations. The only other merc I remember direct dialogue with is Kalyna (out of the 12 I have from AIM and the RPCs).

Well, she does reference 'Shaitan' a lot in most of her dialogue, so her line wouldn't quite work with characters from any nationality.
