  1. Because modifying guns is fun, that's why.
  2. W.O.W. y'all!!! Amazing work!! The mods look super in depth and awesome. And your own field recordings?? Incredible!
  3. Hmm, that's a direct contradiction to @DougS2K's statement. Who is correct? If true, I think this works a lot better, honestly the limited inventory of JA2 is a huge PITA when moving stuff from sector to sector.... Like come on, does this helicopter not have a trunk??? Lol. So I can see some advantages.
  4. Well... that does kinda suck, if true. Sounds like low hanging fruit for a mod 🙂
  5. Has anyone looked through the live streams who can definitively say how shared inventory works? Is it accessible during combat? Does it cost AP to access? I hear a lot of speculation about the possible "worst case scenario" but not a lot of clarity on what's actually in the game as shown thus far. Another point of consideration is that we already know that JA3 will have fine grained difficulty options. Perhaps shared inventory will be an example of those settings. That could be a good solution.
  6. I always found rocket rifles to be impractical actually because of their high AP cost compared to end game rifles like the FAL, RPK, C-7 etc.
  7. Ok, well that's not exactly an APC or a bazooka. Let's stick to what we know is being changed...
  8. We also do not know if that is what is being designed. There's no evidence that you can turn 'bed springs into an APC'. What have we confirmed you can craft with parts so far? What's actually on the list?
  9. AFAIK starting funds for other difficulty levels are not known yet.

  11. Thanks! Any chance you have the icons for these? That way we can associate them with the mercs who have them.
  12. While the number of squads is not limited, the total number of mercs you can hire from AIM at one time is 18, according to the latest dev stream. The wording was very specific, implying that you can have more than 18 in total, likely due to recruitable RPCs in Grand Chien. So more than JA2, theoretically, but not unlimited.
  13. Apparently not. The criticism has been ruthless and often nonsensical. It's pretty disheartening tbh because I'm incredibly excited for the game, and I can't imagine why a fan of the previous games wouldn't be. There are changes, sure, but there's *nothing* even remotely like this out there. I guess people just want another iteration of what came before. Look, JA2 is very playable, and very good. Just play it if that's what you want. JA3 is its own thing. It's not "dumbed down", it's just different. JA2 has a TON of weaknesses as a game. A lot of aspects that barely work, or work poorly. A lot of corners cut. But we all still love it in spite of those huge flaws. Just wish people would give this a chance. It's not like another game is gonna come along in the series anytime soon... Maybe ever. I think it looks really, really good so far. 🤷‍♀️
  14. Well, at least you're not claiming that it's 'dumbed down' 🤣 It seems like only a straight up remake would make you happy...
  15. I did this on my last JA2 run... My first hire was just Thor, then Trevor, then Stephen, then Ivan, and finally Reaper. It was a viable method. Grunty is a bit too stupid to have future potential imo compared to meltdown, buns, Q, Barry etc. Igor is ok though.
  16. Ok I've done some thinking about it, especially after filling out the expanded merc stats, and I've changed up my starting team and figured out my 'endgame' team as well... Starting team will be: Q Barry Meltdown IMP (leadership focused) Buns OR Igor All these characters have at least 80 wisdom which is really important in early game. The decision between Buns and Igor comes down to compatibility with my endgame team... if Buns retains her relationship matrix from JA2 then she may have conflicts with my endgame team with both Magic and Reaper. Igor on the other hand likes and is liked by his brother Ivan, who is part of the endgame squad. Overall Buns is a better choice than Igor, but I need to consider that aspect. More than likely though - I'll go with Buns anyway. Her medical skill comes in really useful. Once I have money rolling in, I'll be adding Vicki to make a full 6 person squad. Vicki is a fantastic merc overall, augments Barry's mechanical skill which is only 46, and is liked by Q (at least in JA2). My secondary, 'endgame' squad will be: Magic Reaper Thor Ivan These are all pretty self explanatory. The choice of 'leader' merc is made difficult due to the 'old dog' trait that Gus has. Basically it means that they do not improve, which is a huge detriment - but also less of a problem by the endgame. Still, I'm tempted to go with Scully as party leader to avoid this problem, and then round out the squad with either Scope or Shadow. The main issue with this squad is that there are no heavy weapons specialists (Ivan no longer has this skill) and only one competent medic. Gus solves both of these problems on his own while also being a more competent explosives expert than Scully as well, which is quite tempting... Fauda is an interesting choice but her dexterity of 45 is a real detriment to having endgame competency, combined with the 'old dog' limitation mentioned earlier. On the other hand, Gus is so OP that he could easily replace all of the other party members on any front. So I should probably just stick with my original plan of Scully, then scope or Shadow.
  17. Fair enough. 1.13 is that fantasy made real by those who shared it, and available.
  18. Also they can just make up whatever they want because it's, y'know, a game. A work of fiction. My point was that I was surprised that they didn't rebalance the stats of the mercs in order to better fit the gameplay of JA3 compared to JA2.
  19. Bumping wolf's leadership would make him OP. He's already very strong. But I do agree that it is odd that they're not tweaking the stars of any mercs from ja2. Perhaps that will change before release, who knows.
  20. From what I've seen so far, I'm thinking 4/5. Might end up being higher. Seriously doubt that it will go as low as a 3. I think some of y'all have way too specific of an idea of what the game should be, and are missing a lot of the positive changes that have occurred in the overall gameplay with this iteration. Hyperfocusing on character portraits or individual mechanics such as interrupts vs overwatch... these are not the things that make or break a game. As a cohesive whole, JA3 has a ton of elements and mechanics that have never been seen in the series before that will make for a vastly different experience overall. I'm talking primarily about mechanics outside of combat. Whether that's good or bad remains to be seen, but I find it interesting how heavily people focus on these very small iterative changes to combat mechanics or art style rather than the huge sweeping changes to everything else. It really is a whole new type of game compared to what has come before. But then again, so was JA2 compared to JA1. As for the art style... all I'm gonna say is that every time anyone refers to JA2 in here as some kind of gritty, hyper-realistic tactical military simulation... I kinda start snorting with laughter. I think y'all really missed the joke back then, and still are. JA3 is tonally not really much of a departure from what came before. I'd go so far as to say it's way more 'realistic' than JA1 was in terms of tone. JA2 is about as much of a tactical mil-sim as GTA is a racing simulator. Like it or not, it's always been that way.
  21. Hey, you're allowed to like what you like! And I'm allowed to poke fun at it 😋 haha
  22. re: 1.13 style inventory system.... I'm just gonna go ahead and leave this snippet from the bears pit discord right here... My favorite part is that even the person responding doesn't know for certain 🤣🤣🤣 Nuff said!
  23. This is actually what JA1 did as well 🙂
