I would also like to see night operations where the mercs must sneak into camps or bases to steal specific informations or to kill a target without getting seen.

To deal with wild animals in this african setting is really natural and should also be considered. Maybe hunting could be part of some missions so that the resources could help the resistance.

I can only leave my sign under this comment, wild animals is a must that will give us headache now and then. Nile crocodiles inside the swamp its a must, we already seen screenshots were our mercs are inside a swamp halfway though.

Maybe the Gaboon viper could be also there, the biggest viper of the world with the biggest fangs of all snakes, very sluggish but a master of camouflage, some people back in Africa dead from it already as its very easily to step on as it looks just like a leaf in woodland and forest ground. Once we get bitten we should need a antidote or our merc will be dying within 24 hours or so as example, but those cases should be in rare occasions.

Facing a lion would be another cool stuff as we had blood cats (something like a experimental tigers or jaguars) in JA2 or facing hungry hyena clan that will surround us out of nowhere around the savannah.

What else ? or a angry hippo (its Africas number 1 serial killer against humans in real life) that will attack us suddenly out of the water i dont know. 😄

  2. Oooh Grizzly is back, was 1 of my favourite heavy gunners in JA2, was also regularly in my first team 2/3 of the game most times.

Now the psychopath Bull is missing, 1 of Grizzly`s best friends, was using Bull a lot especially start of the game and he was imo the best guy (may together with Dr.Q) for those Kingpin`s MMA fights.

The modified AK-47 also looks nice, the map will be also big which is a good sign for more gameplay time and research etc...

This is a tricky one for me to answer and I was going to leave it but it is nice to see so many fellow "gun nut" guys. I once got kicked out of a Rainbow Six: Vegas game because I was complaining about the weapons. I'd also annoy Call Of Duty and Counter-Strike fans back in the day.

Those YouTube channels are regular visits for me as well. I like Forgotten Weapons, InRangeTV, Paul Harrell, Garand Thumb, TFB TV, Honest Outlaw, Administrative Results, Bloke On The Range, Royal Armouries, Vickers Tactical, IraqVeteran8888, Lucky Gunner Ammo, Military Arms Channel and Hickok45.

I personally never thought much of FPSRussia but that is just my view. He recently appeared in an interview, talking in his natural American voice, as to why he disappeared.

Due to the setting and timeline, like others have said, there should be older weapons that are common. WWII, 1950s and '60s battle rifles will be readily available. There should be plenty of FN FAL, H&K G3 rifles in 7.62x51mm around, to match all the Soviet-era assault rifles and machine guns.

My own personal favourites are the hardest to pick. How can you choose only 3 when you are considering handguns, shotguns, SMGs, assault rifles, battle rifles, sniper rifles and machine guns? If JA3 takes place in 2001, I would have to go with the following:

Pistols: Heckler & Koch USP .45 or 9mm, Beretta 92FS, M1911 (so many varieties and manufacturers for that one).

SMG: Heckler & Koch MP5A5, MP5SD6, UMP .45; Ingram MAC-10 .45 with suppressor, Steyr AUG Para.

    Assault Rifle: Colt M4A1, SIG 551 and 552 Commando, Heckler & Koch G36K, G36C and HK33.

The thing is, I could pick many more but I would have to ultimately choose my firearms depending on what ammo would be readily available in the country. Also, if your gunfire sounds the same as the enemy's because you are using similar weapons, that can give you a slight advantage. They are less likely to pick you out as a foreign intrusion if they hear your gunfire going off in the distance.

Why were you kicked out of Rainbow 6 ? Isnt the weapon variety rich & realistic there ? As i know those popular first person shooter games has a good selection of weapons.

Please can you send me the link where FPSRussia is giving the recent interview ? Just checked a few recent videos also almost a year ago it shows body transformation and so.

We touched this on Discord. A very nice summary of the most important information, but unfortunately there is nothing new there that we would know 🙂.

So on Discord there also a Jagged Alliance Forum or what ? And then again on Stream ? Cause am not in there, have no idea. Getting all the info and news here.

Well there are two schools of thought on this topic, those in favor of armor and gadgets appearing on the model and portrait, and those in favor of a recognisable model at all times.
Both have been there for a long time in this genre of games, I remember several discussions about it in Wasteland forums for example.
I for one was in favor of a WYSIWYG approach (Everything must appear on the model and portrait), but over time I felt more in more inclined to go to the other side. As other people already said, all characters end up looking the same, and loose their personnality, especially when you have to equip certain gear for the stats and not the looks.

There are several options possible taking a bit from both schools. Toggles to show or not, models but not portraits, a generic visible armor when one is equipped...
I guess I'm Ok with their approach, with detailled portraits and models, very recognisable and representative of the character.

Hmmm i dont really think all characters would look the same or similar just by having different kind of helmet & vests. It worked very well in Rage (including putting gas mash and shades etc was really cool).

So there will be many different gears (helmet, vests and backpacks...) but we they will not appear on us but we will imagine like its on them like a ghost. 😄 XCom 2 also made it very cool how you could edit your soldiers, the suit pattern, colour etc, it gave us lots of freedom and very nice looks.

As example we will be having a Ivan in JA3 that will be starting still the end of game with a WW2 Soviet officer uniform in tropical African weather. I dont know but its very odd to me. 😆 At least with some gear appearance we could make look the characters much more modern and bring more realism to the game.

Also its an early PREview 😄

There is nothing to review yet. The video material they showed was already shown at Gamescom in the live stream. As they mention themselves in the video they couldn't play anything. Basically the info they have, was already available to everyone else before.

Still a nice overview. Albeit they should have mentioned that the % hitchance was removed when showing that footage from the first trailer where it was still present.

Still a nice summary imo, not everybody has time to watch 1 hour videos you know.

Btw the thing with the hit % may will be available in the options, would be cool if it would be there. There will be lots of missed shots during the gameplay without the %.

Developers already confirmed that you will not see armor on the characters (and with that definitely not on the portraits).

That kind of makes sense. It makes it easier to differentiate the characters and gives them more personality. In addition it's easier to work with potentially 40 different 3D models.

Oooh for truth ? Guess i missed this important fact, too bad though. It would bring much more realism if it could appear on the characters.

I think the JA3 portraits dont look bad but could be improved. When you compare JA2 Fidel with JA3 Fidel he does look very different. Buns and MD look better in my opinion. Overall the JA3 portraits are way better than BIA for sure but that were just generic clones. Maybe they could look more gritty and serious. Some are too colorful and cartoony for my taste.

Totally agree they are a lil cartoony, but a lil colourful outfit suits to Vicky imo. The best solution would be when we put helmets, vets, weapon holsters and backpacks to our characters it should also display it on them in the game. It was well made in JA Rage.

Also to use camo kits so our mercs can look nearly completely green. Shadow will be like that already from default i guess.

The game's discussion forum on Steam is very nice to collect the most important information about Jagged Alliance 3, which appeared during Gamescom 2022. I will post it here together with the source. They can come from an open or closed show.

I'd like to see some sabotage quests (blow up X, or cause X amount of damage), assassination quests, maybe search and rescue or breakout (of jail, etc.)

Agree on having some more open spaces for ambushes, long range battles, etc.

The jail raid in JA2 was 1 of the most fun parts imo, then we rescue Duncan (1 of my favourite mercs in JA2). Hope there will not be time limited rescue missions (i didnt liked at all) like in XCom 2.

Side quests like Kingpin & his hitmans or the Blood cats from JA2 would be cool indeed.

In this open world there should be also additional danger to us not only from the enemy allies but also from wild animals, such crocodiles etc would suit in perfectly to the game atmosphere (especially around the swamp) imo. It not a must for me but dont mind if they add up to the game also a sci-fiction mode where creepy creatures will appear.

In the gamescom interview, they made clear that the mercs will be voiced. Already 500000 words have been voiced already, and they said more sessions were to come.
They have prepared huge preparation documents for each mercs and they said it helped them a lot for the voice casting.

If all that is not enough to confirm that mercs and more will be voiced, I don't know what will.

Oh yes i heard it in the interview and even opened directly a topic as i was that excited. Hopefully the voice actings will be quality with some heavy accents and also in some other languages, i will be more than happy if we will have a few Spanish speaking mercs in there who will be using lots of spanish words in there, we already know 1 is Fidel already. Hope Ivan will be also using lots of Russian words in there. I already like how Vicky speaks in the first trailer with her Jamaican accent. We will need also some characters with African accent, guess even our main villain will be a African.

Now that they've got voices, what about animating the portraits? bring a little life to them while they are talking.

Also it helps show if their morale is happy or sad, angry or injured. What do you guys think?

Leaving also my signature under this comment, it must be surely there just like in JA2 otherwise it will be a lil dull for sure.

I am totally with you. A good game needs time and testing. I dont care if it takes longer. Its better than playing all the half baked rushed tactic games without soul we got the last 10 years. JA2 is still great because there was passion in it and you could feel that.

Still great ? JA2 is simply the greatest of all times so far from realistic turn based games.

Go to 31:55 it says in German

"Es gibt unterschiedliche Söldner, die haben alle híntergrund geschichten, super viele details, wir haben ganz unterschiedliche Schauspieler die hier die stimme leiten und was richting richting cool ist das das sie sehr natürlich reagieren."

Which says "There are different mercenaries, they all have background stories, a lot of details, we have very different actors (voice actors) who lend the voice here and what's really really cool is that they react very naturally of the sitations."

Sorry my German is just average, Kordanor should help us with better translations & details here.

But voice will be there, it really chilled me down this morning.

    Hello JA3 Devs,

i am a huge jagged alliance 2 fan since the beginning and I love this franchise. I am also following JA3 all day and saw your new gameplay trailer. Many parts I liked but as I heard there will be no voice acting I was shocked.

For me Jagged Alliance at its core are the mercs and their personalities. How they interact with you and each other. Its so important and gives this game life and soul. This seperates Jagged Alliance from all the other generic tactic games out there. So if you give us only text boxes this game will be a total failure.

I just hope that they are missing because of the early development. If not I can tell you that this will never be a jagged alliance game. The mercs and their personalities can only be transported with good voice acting so please think about this!

But overall I wish you the best luck with this project. The legendary jagged alliance 2 needs a great successor!

I can only sign my signature under this comment. 😉👍🏼

In JA2 there were both text boxes and voices speches too. So, voicing is still have a chance.

But in JA2 the text boxes were appearing only in the tactical map not in the game which would spoil the game fun imo, i mean while playing the game constantly popping text speeches will be more than annoying, so just let them talk.

  17. I talked about this before, they put the Soviet logo in Ivan`s ushanka which is very cool imo but after the Russia & Ukraine conflict it will be a lil controversial so i was thinking may they will remove the logo or Ivan totally from the cover lol. Ivan is using a old Soviet uniform overall in JA3 lol, made even the LEGO minifig out of it cause of his sake.

Like i mentioned before hopefully we can change helmets, vests and some other tactical gear in the game that will also appear on the characters just like in Jagged Alliance Rage which was really cool imo.

By now, I think it's pretty clear that you guys know I will argue and voice my opinion in a very "critical" way. This is the only game for which I care strongly enough to actually give a crap about its future.

I want to be super friendly in the way I say things, but I think my words will come out like a blunt object regardless, simply because I seriously care about this game. This is the last time I will "hope" for a Jagged Alliance game that might be faithful to its roots. This is the biggest funded effort yet.

If you follow gaming AT ALL, you would know that big game companies only listen when the crowd gets loud. When nobody says anything, they release the lowest effort kind of crap because why work hard if people are happy with 'whatever'?

..but wait... REAL GAMING is now days on console?

    😶

Why the heck would I want to buy a console to play a PC Classic?

Consoles aren't bad at all, I have a PS1 and PS3 for a few Gran Turismo titles for when I feel like being lazy and laying back. I had a Switch because I thought it would be fun for going out (end up using my camera too much). Consoles have their place!

But, Turn-Based Roleplaying Strategy games belong on PC! Not to be watered-down and oversimplified so that I can sit and nap while I play. If they can keep the complexity and depth and still offer it to console players, GOOD! But if they sacrifice game quality for the sake of consoles, this game will pretty much fail.

The only player base Haemimont Games has that are almost GUARANTEED first-day buyers are PC gamers such as many here who want a faithful Jagged Alliance. We are the first wave of purchases that will review and either rave or hate the game. This game, on console, would pass by like a shadow and not even be noticed.

I don't want a game with an interface that looks like a port for mobile gaming because players are too lazy to use a mouse or use more than 5-6 buttons.

Guess i need to buy myself a new Windows Laptop and wait to buy JA3 from Stream ASAP. 😄👍🏽
