I would like to suggest the developers (@Haemimont_Boian @Haemimont_Boyan) to check out Ian "Gun Jesus" MacCollum's awesome YouTube channel Forgotten Weapons (maybe you already know of it). I do not belive you can find a broader vault of information regarding all sorts of guns. Who knows, you might find something really cool over there for the game!

This Gun Jesus guy "Forgotten Weapons" may shows off the best details of the weapons (also lots of odd weapons) in slow pace but it can be really boring at times, he can make you fall asleep.

My favourite gunman on YouTube is "FPSRussia" he is explaining and practising the guns with real excitement, though he not posting on his successful YouTube channel anymore since 6 or 7 years but he is the most fun by far imo. Highly recommended for sure.

Also "Kalashnikov Group" is a top notch gun channel on YouTube (showing off mostly just Russian weapons though.)

I guess this might be where our opinions differ, and they are only opinions, naturally. (I like sharing my opinions and hope they stay friendly) 🍻

Rage was the first JA game I never completed, I actually only played about an hour before I quit and uninstalled because it really didn't feel like Jagged Alliance in any way. Jagged Alliance is about choice, inventory, management. Actually, if there was one word I could use to sum up the gameplay of Jagged Alliance 1 & 2, it would be "FREEDOM".

You have the ultimate freedom of approaching situations in any way you want, from all out assault to trying to sneak, either day or night. This freedom means everyone will have a different style of play, from different mercs we compose our teams of (from our own stereotypes, "racism", fondness, etc..), or different types of weapon styles, etc.. there is something for EVERYONE.

I felt rage was a little bit like JA Online in taking away freedom and giving you set puzzle pieces to challenge you, maybe a little closer to the modern xcom formula.

Unfortunately, without going into too much detail here, because many know my viewpoint on the modern xcom; let's just say, I did finish xcom 1 & 2, and I've never went back. Not my style.

For myself, I really hope they stick to the original formula, which was very unique and would be something that would make it standout from the overcrowded xcom-clones we have. If we get anothe xcom-like game, it'll simply sit somewhere in a wishlist of "maybe I will eventually play it after a heavy sale".

Sorry if this is not exactly what you wanted to hear... I mean, if you enjoyed Rage? then I mean that is really good and it's nice to see someone not thrash talk it in a way.

Rage wasnt great but still a fun game imo with the lil missions you got there. The weapon variety is also very rich which i enjoyed most but surely it is nothing near to JA1 and far far away from JA2. Hopefully JA3 will be more like JA2 but may we just dreaming....

Freedom is surely a key point, but Rage was just a lil appetizer anyway. 😉👍🏼

Yes I hope for the Animated portraits as in JA2, having their eyes blink and mouth move when they talk or get injured, brings the characters more to life.

So true, hopefully they will bring it. In Jagged Alliance Rage when a merc talked (as they did gave a speech on each sector once they enter and once you would finish the mission) there came out a window were a 3D portrait appeared with moving mouth, if they can bring at least a stuff like that it will be surely very cool.

To each his own, I have nothing against consoles, honestly!

I think consoles are great for certain types of games more than others.

I do think strategy games with complexity and large inventory and macro/micro-management such as Jagged Alliance 1 and 2 not ideal on console; not impossible, just not ideal.

IF and ONLY IF it was possible not to water down the game for consoles... then, why not?

I totally agree with you on JA1 & also with JA2. (Even The Commandos Remake on PS4 was imo a total disaster.)

But Jagged Alliance Rage on PlayStation (4,5) felt super good and as you can see XCOM 2 was a real hit on consoles and pretty easy to handle with the controller and so will be JA3.

And as i said JA3 would make lots of money once they release it also for consoles (especially for PlayStation & XBOX).

  5. If they want make serious money they surely need to bring it for PlayStation (PS4 & PS5) as most gamers are on this console (XCOM 2 made the best sells also on PS4), i honestly would not play it on PC and wait still they release it on PS5 (possibly after the original release 5 or 6 months later, which means i would not be able to play JA3 possibly still mid or late 2023.)

Gotta pop up the trophies 1 by 1 with lots of joy on JA3 still i get %100 platinum. Am sure i will play from start to finish at least 20 times.

If Jagged Alliance 3 is a typical narrative game, the date 2022 is quite probable. If the producers focused on non-linearity and a lot of side missions, the premiere in 2023 is 100% possible.

The game will not be released before end of 2022 if they want make something proper, my guess is even more possibly around spring 2023 (exactly after 24 years JA2 was released).

  7. May a lil out of topic but there also need to be different kind of grenades, as like flammable (Molotov cocktail), stun, smoke and deadly gas (the mustard gas grenade was so epic in JA2.) We already know Fidel is a grenade expert so he will do a handful stuff against the enemy forces with it.

Then hopefully our enemy forces (mercs, soldiers) should make realistic sounds when they getting hit or die (sounds like aaarrrgh, oaaahhh) instead we see in the trailer when our enemy got hit he says "that hurt" like got stung from a hornet.🐝 😂

  8. Going most definitely with :

    1. FN Scar / MK 17 (We have it already on JA Rage, simply the best assault rifle imo but have doubts it will be in JA3 since it taking place around 2001 - 2005 if am not wrong and the FN Scar is in service since 2009.)

    2. AK - 103 (Right now 1 of the best Russian rifles, if not the best imo, in service since 2001.)

    3. Steyr AUG (We had it already in JA2, also a assault rifle i like.)

All assault rifles should be able to get modified with scope, night vision, grenade launcher and silencer etc....

Yeap am pretty much a assault rifle fan, but would like to see the Dragunov (in JA2 my favourite sniper rifle) back as well, also a Barrett M95 or M82 (which shoots 50 caliber) would be really epic but should be rare to get. RPG should be there as well especially towards end of the game, would be cool if tanks or armored vehicles with turret will also appear in some sectors just like in JA2. So there we will need the anti tank, armor weapons such RPG (especially in Africa the famous RPG-7 is used very oftenly still today).

I sincerely think that few adjustments need to be made to the depth that JA2 already had. Expand the roster, keep the depth of the voices and interactions, and give us a good coat of paint on the graphics.

No te preocupes amigo, Jagged Alliance 3 will have the best & biggest roster mark my words but also hope they will give them good characteristics & cool quotes with some good voice acting (which am not so sure yet).

I came to realise (about god damned time!) that I never explained why I like Ivan so much.

I have no empirical study at all to support this, but for some reason Ivan just seams to perform better than other Mercs for me.

So he's become somewhat of a lucky charm for me.

Am maybe even a bigger fan of Ivan i guess, see my profile pic (yes i made a LEGO Ivan minifig, also some others) as well lol. I got even a poster of him in my room. Like him been hardcore Soviet elite soldier and his constant Russian quotes are so legendary, even on Jagged Alliance Rage (disappointingly he speaks there very few Russian words but his quotes are still far the best, together with Fidel.) Then that he is addicted to alcohol (very possibly vodka) makes him displaying the perfect Russian mercenary.

I can watch over and over again this video of Ivan on YouTube and cant get tired jajaja.

  11. Well well, its may a bit disappointing to hear from a Jagged Alliance hardcore fan like me but never played Jagged Alliance 1 (looking now days to some videos on YouTube and it looks really from stone age, but i still need to play it at least once before i start playing Jagged Alliance 3.) So cant say much about all JA1 mercs but probably i would go with Ivan, Fidel, Hector (yes finally a South American merc), Vicki & Boss to my first squad.

Started playing Jagged Alliance 2 even before the release around very early 1999, as i used to buy Gaming magazines that times and it was coming always with a CD so there i met the first time with Jagged Alliance 2 as the demo was included in it and i fall immediately in love with it.

On JA2 i would take mainly to my first dead squad ; My own merc, Ivan, Miguel (before probably Bull or Grizzly), Fidel, Duncan (after some battles and training i can make a very decent merc out of him.), Vicki. I also like Slay, he is a the best roof top sniper in the normal game imo but can hire him only for short period. On JA2 Urban Chaos are few more mercs i like but dont know their name out of my head now.

On Jagged Alliance Rage my favourite 4 are Ivan, Vicki, Fidel & Shadow. (There are total of 7 mercs anyway lol.)

But i have a very good feeling on Jagged Alliance 3 we will have the best & biggest roster ever, just hoping that they will include them nice characteristics with epic quotes (with good voice acting).

I only want to see what guns Ivan can use to destroy his enemies. 🤪

Jokes aside, I want too see game mechanics, how it all fits togheter when combining the strategic, tactical and financial gameplay.

Also a bit of gameplay toghetet whit a look at the character presentation in the game, how the charecters personality is presented to you as a gamer. To see if they captured the "vibe" from the earlier games.

I just hope Ivan will speak enough Russian speeches & quotes what makes him simply legendary (especially for the Russian speaking based people.) and not a more Englished 1 lol, on Jagged Alliance Rage he says just "da" and may rarely 1 or 2 other Russian words but thats all about it. He says already a Russian quote on the trailer when the door is blown up before he starts shooting with the shotgun. (Cant really pick up what he says, unless a Russian speaking person can tell it ?)

But i have lil doubt since the Ukraine invasion, if they can bring a ban to the legendary Ivan Dolvich & his cousin Igor ? Especially in Jagged Alliance 3 he has a Soviet logo (Igor has it too on his blue beret if you look carefully) on his ushanka and WW2 Soviet uniform.

Myself am a huge Ivan fan, 1 of my favourite characters of the game and always on my main dead squad, hope we need to tank him once a while with some alcohol too like in Jagged Alliance Rage it would be really funny.

Hope there will be also other cool characters that will speak with heavy accent & with some of their language.

Yeap hopefully they will bring a video or 2, more screenshots and also some information about the game.

  13. Good analyst Kordanor, i watched your reaction video shortly after you uploaded it. Really well made, good i can understand also German so it was fun to watch, wish they were more analyze/reaction videos of the trailer from other Jagged Alliance hardcore fans.

In my opinion from the trailer i have seen (probably watched it more than 100 times so far 😁) it looks like a mixture of Jagged Alliance Rage & XCOM 2.

Have played Jagged Alliance Rage minimum from start to finish at least 20 times now, even if its not the perfect game its still pretty fun imo (though too easy after playing it so many times even in hard difficulty, wish they were a harder difficulty, anyway.)

The story is really very weak, Elliot making a comeback and becoming even the boss lol, the map designs are overall poor (you can see that they didnt made good effort to the game (low budget indie game anyway), its more like a mobile phone game). But its straight forward and fun, am used already to the playing system on Jagged Alliance Rage so if Jagged Alliance 3 will be similar and even with more improved mechanics, much better graphics (map design) which i think will be from what we seeing from the short trailer, it will be simply amazing. Am in love especially with the swamp screenshot where our mercenaries are walking inside the swamp (wouldnt mind if there will be few crocodiles too for surprise attack inside the swamp, it would bring us extra danger & panic. Like we had the tigers in JA2), it looks so realistic.

The weather conditions looks amazing as well and hope it will affect to our shooting skills, then i can remember in 1 statement of Kordanor he was mentioning that to bring night environment would be harder for the game makers (its may true) but Jagged Alliance without night conditions (yes in JA1 we didnt had night but thats also a game from 1995) is a huge minus for me. I enjoyed the night battles a lot in Jagged Alliance 2, using night vision and all, was so much fun. I mean its even on Jagged Alliance Rage. Gotta have gas masks as well for the gas attacks.

Am in love with the weapon variety on Jagged Alliance Rage, hope the weapon selection will be huge in JA3, but since JA3 will take part shortly after JA2 (1999,2000) probably around 2001 - 2005 range we wouldnt have some of todays modern weapons?

Then again what i really noticed from the trailer and screen shots is the dresses (uniforms) of the mercs are somehow strange (funny) Ivan is wearing a Soviet WW2 uniform (doesnt look bad but odd imo) or Fidel`s uniform also looks like a WW2 uniform.

Hope we can change they look a bit hopefully, especially to give them different kind of modern helmets, tactical vets, gear (all should be visible on the characters when they put it on) etc... Like in Jagged Alliance Rage (they really tried it there).

Also my other concern is if Jagged Alliance will be really a mixture of JA Rage and XCOM 2 (which it seems) there will be not stunning blood & gore effects. In my opinion that is also important, i was enjoying in JA2 the brutal effects (in my taste it could have even more brutal) where you could splash the heads to pieces especially when you were sniping them from the roof top with a sniper or when you would burst fire them to they body sometimes there were some gore effects or when you kill a enemy in the water the water would be also covered with blood and some other effects i may forget.

Our mercenaries should be also able to die, not just fall unconsciouss like in Jagged Alliance Rage.

Destroying walls with bombs (explosive items) would be also very cool in JA3. Setting some traps, mines etc as well.

Then what i also noticed from the trailer is when you hiring the merc, they dont speak but writing you instead. Hopefully they will talk too when you hire them, it will be simply cooler than you writing.

Just hope they take they time to better the game, no need for rush as we (Jagged Alliance hardcore fans) are waiting already for such a long time (over 20 years). I can wait a lil longer to be honest. Last but not least hope they will bring it shortly after the release to PS5 as well.

Lastly to mention about XCOM 2, i played it briefly but didnt liked it, the gameplay is very similar to Jagged Alliance Rage even more advanced to be honest but so so high % shots even can be missing most of the times and fighting against silly designed (very childish for my taste) overpowered aliens its totally not my thing.

PS : If someone is willing to play Jagged Alliance Rage online multiplayer can add me up on PlayStation : LoboNocturno2020
