I wonder if they took any inspiration by the "Drassen Counter-Attack" option re-enabled by JA2 1.13.

It feels like it. I also appreciated the sudden shift in power. Things were getting a little too easy to be honest.

(Deidranna, in her dialogues, is always mentioning sending large forces to take sectors back, yet the devs disabled the full effect in the "official" release, so she sends like this tiny 8-soldier army that your militia easily disposes of. Original JA2 lacked that kickback in difficulty.)

I mentioned it on different topics several times, the OG JA2 is way easier then JA2 Wildfire which i played & finished both recent time (few months ago). In JA2 Wildfire you also have more enemies in each sector like 20 - 25 blue shirts. It took me longer to finish JA2 Wildfire (like a month) as i played the OG JA2 after Wildfire and it was way easier which i finished like in a week. I wanted to post my review about JA2 (OG & Wildfire) but just dont have the time for it.

I don't like her at all. Only upside is the rifle she starts with.

Her attitude is completely bonkers, I mean did I hire a child or what?

Her voice drives me nuts, as do her lines.

I only ever take her to train / repair, away from front lines so I don'T have to listen to her 🤬

Totally agree her voice and speeches are like a teen but Livewire is a lot worst and more annoying imo like a 14 year old, wish there was a option like in JA2 where we ca mute the mercs we want to.

  3. Hands down Flay, at least he brings some seriousness with him and he has a original French accent and also throws in some French words, his look is also ok as a hunter and his stats is also a lil above average, with some progress he can become 1 of the best snipers of the game, only his agility is low but with some training and usage, around mid game you can get him to a high level. Wish there were more characters like him in the game.

  4. Thanks alot for bringing us Jagged Alliance 3 after almost a quarter century. 💚👍🏽

The game is really good (not yet great) & fun and has also a good potential to become better and all.

But it has still lots of flaws, hopefully you will correct it with upcoming patches and updates. Otherwise our only hope is that talented modders will edit and better the game later on.

BTW it seems like MD is the best dancers of all the characters. 😁

lol, really? this is your way of straw manning every argument? Tell me then senpai, if this is not cash grab and exploitation of nostalgic people, what it is really?

And dont start me on glass half empty attitude, you literally have been advising me to exploit auto resolve future to solve ammo rng problems. You are literally using exploits to overcome some not well thought mechanic.

unlike you, i did play JA2 and this is why i dont like lazy game development, which devalues old games into oblivion for cash grab. Maybe you should try playing JA3 and JA2 together. JA3 combat is literally 5 times faster than JA2. JA3 removed and reworked interesting mechanics ideas of JA2 and turned it into inferior console version. JA3 is graphically better, game play wise inferior to every JA title. You might like it and totally understand that. I dont. I refuse to believe 161 million dollar revenue company "ran out of budget" when developing the game so they cut original features from title.

I understand your disappointment, as its with every hardcore JA2 fans but still JA3 is a good and fun game for sure and with some improvements it has a very good potential to be better.

Yes i totally agree the fire fights back in JA2 was slower and somehow more tactical as back in JA3 its a lil more arcade (guess they did it surely for the younger audience). But i will be very happy later on once it will be released also for PlayStation 5, guess with controller i will have even more fun to play it.

  6. Myself i didnt see or feel a significant difference yet (maybe also needs balancing), as my IMP has Night Ops + the googles on at night.

The only thing i know once you got on your night vision google you are very open to fatal headshots, Slave Master Graf can sniping also heads off from far distance.

I agree, but in some maps AI is just a minor inconvenience. For example on Brothel map, there is a sniper on the roof next to warehouse building, that guy made my combat 10 minutes longer by skipping his turns and not revealing himself. I cleared that map with stealth, yet this guy who didnt know where we were stayed in combat so long, i had to search for him in turn based combat mode for 5 minutes. Only if i had Livewire with intel i could highlight him and make the entire thing easier. Livewire unique perk sometimes compensates for dumb AI

As example i just entered to Camp Grand Prix without intel, my very first sector where were 20 enemies so far. It was piece of cake to detect them all.

Making your battle 10 mins longer how nice, i wish the fire fights lasted a lil longer as in JA2 (back in JA2 i was taking sometimes for 1 single sector a hour or more). I feel like the battles ends too quick in JA3 since the maps are way smaller and the enemy bull rushes on you without tactics, yes in JA2 the enemies were also keep coming at you most times but at least they were harder to defeat as they would throw at you the flare, grenades, mustang gas, RPG etc... In my 20 hours of gameplay they thrown me only once a pipe bomb.

Livewire gets additional bonus intel from hacking (I don't think it applies to cash from hacking, but not sure). With her I rarely have to use the Scouting Operation for Intel, which saves time and time is money. However, I think Livewire's greatest strength (aside from learning super fast with her 94? Wisdom), is her passive "Wallhack" ability. With her on my team I can see where every single enemy is as soon as I enter the sector, which makes stealth and combat both a breeze.

Hmmm ok, yea her special skill is good for stealth missions (operations) but its not really needed imo, since the AI is so dumb i can also find the enemies easily by myself in stealth mode(the map is small anyway so it takes some seconds to detect them.) If the AI was really strong and the maps bigger only then her special ability would make sense imo.

It is actually quite surprising how so many mods have been created in such a short space of time, given that the game has only recently been released. Whether people like the game or not, or want improvements, it is testament to Haemimont for making the game easily moddable and right from the beginnings of its design.

Yes it really surprised me as well, though they said the modding tools will be available after 3 to 4 weeks the release.

But how is it possible to mod ? Dont we need a modding programme, editor or so ?

The thing is, with JA3 they did not just stick with the good features from JA2 and improved the bad ones.  Some good features have been either left out or altered in such a way it is more of a frustration than an improvement now really (Overwatch instead of interruption, the inventory system)..

So you can't call this JA3 since it's more of an JA / Xcom / Wasteland / Tropico hybrid. It's clearly aimed at a wider audience than just those JA veterans like me that simply wished for an upgraded JA2.

Very well said but the game is good overall and surely fun. Does it need improvement ? Capital YES!

So hopefully if it gets some patches or a proper modding am sure the game will be way more fun.

  11. Flay is by far the best new merc of JA3 hands down, his stats is well enough for the start (during mid game am sure he will become elite), his outfit looks ok as a hunter (Indiana Jones & Crocodile Dundee Mixture), his voice acting is also 1 of the best of all mercs with some seriousness at least and he has that real French accent (also throws in some French words, wish there were more mercs who say now and then some words in their own language). I really like him a lot, wish there were more characters like him in the game. Hopefully with DLCs or propper modding we will have more such characters.

One Steam guy mentioned 3 mines ran out for him so he has just 1 remaining.

I use mod to make mines never expire.

Do we have access to mod already ? Didnt they said it will be available after 3 to 4 weeks after the release ? Cause in game when i go to the mod there is nothing or do we need to download something additional ?

Steroid, I find him terrible for markmanship. Too low agility and too low dex. I like his strength (storage slots) and mechanic skills. He's my top-2 squad teams mule.

True, still prefer Steroid more then Livewire in early game, though Livewire can hack more money and intel since she has her special USB but guess thats not the case, Steroid or Vicki as example hack exactly the same amount. You can still set Steroid as a back up shooter but Livewire is incredible useless for shooting as she misses even from very close range most times, though she has really high wisdom can be trained but she goes into my nerves simply (not suiting to JA at all). If you have money of course i highly recommend  Vicki (1 of the best mechanics in the game and i like her voice acting with her Jamaican accent.)

    Manuel, Miguel and Hamous.

    Mike is dead.

Miguel as well, guess you never played JA2 Unfinished Business.

BTW i voted for Hamous since he was in both JA1 & JA2 so he most definitely deserves a comeback, still hoping he would appear somewhere in the map but guess its just illusion.

I really liked Dynamo back in JA2, the poor suffered prisoner who really wants to revenge Deidranna, you could really feel him from his voice acting and damaged face (it felt realistic to me). he was 1 of the best door openers of the game (perhaps the best with Maddog together), i had him most times in my main team, trained him to be a decent merc and enjoyed in the very final sector of Meduna to kill the queen with him.

It resembles also Fall Out with all its gangs and quests. The more get into it the less I understand it. But is great fun and for sure the best JA ever so far. And I must laugh about those telling us they finished it within 4 or 5 days days or so. Even on "normal" it is hard to play. The KI is kinda keen and the loot 2 low. Good night!

Most of us are still rookies of the game so we still try to understand how the game really works thats why its more challenging for us at the moment (at least for me), once we understand all of the perks, which bullet (Haemimot said each bullet typ has a different impact) is better for what, the game mechanics etc... am sure the game will become easier and possibly a lil more boring.

Am still quiet new in the game, didnt reached to the mid story as yet so lets see how things will be with stronger enemies and stronger weapons but as i heard from some people it gets easier so better enemy AI is needed. Some people just increase the difficulty from Commando to Mission Impossible during the game, i didnt see the need as yet but may later on once i get better equipment and stronger mercs i could do it.

The lower loot is also based on the difficulty, at least back in JA2 we had the option "Tons of Guns". The loot is also a Xmas bag now instead of seeing whatever it is on the ground like in JA2.

  16. @Tzg Dont i told you, most of our opinion dont match with yours in here. You said Jagged Alliance 2 is the very same as Jagged Alliance 3 with lots of colourful silly characters, so from your perspective nothing much changed in JA3 compared to JA2 good for you.

But a normal person who really played both games and can think a lil sane will see the differences right away, sorry but JA3 is way too cartoony imo which kills also the fun other then the weak AI. So we just hope and pray with some proper modding the game will become way more realistic (at least we will able to change the weapon stats so it will surely bring some more balancing it, change the maps and hopefully we can change also the characters as they were saying we will be able to import character models and voices).

We are adults that love dark humor, more serious convos between the characters, to really feel we are in a brutal unpredictable dangerous war zone atmosphere, stronger AI that will challenge us to go a different route. Not colourful silly Fortnite atmosphere as you like.

I didnt post my JA2 review as yet but hey there is a balance & difficulty difference between the OJ JA2 and JA2 Wildfire as i played both recently this year (not mentioning 1.13 since i didnt played it since years) as example, the OJ JA2 is way easier then Wildfire (oh yea, you called Wildfire not a real Jagged Alliance game as well 😆)

@Solaris_Wave Dexterity plays also a important role this time in the game as you know, only having a merc with good marksmanship would not be enough to perform clean sniper headshots all the time, as there will be also enough misses which is frustrating. I really noticed that with Steroid as example who has even higher marksmanship then Buns but way lower dexterity, Buns has even a lil lower marksmanship but with high dexterity she shoots a lot better, much more accurate.

This was not the case back in JA2 as i know, dexterity was a skill more for crafting stuff ( please correct me if am wrong).

So they did there a lil good change but i know exactly what you mean, with more stats accuracy stats etc (may it would have become a lil too complicated for many).... Am still trying to figure out which bullet is more useful in JA3 as we have already a wider option in ammunition then back in JA2 which is a good thing.

I really like the game so far, its most definitely a good game but can, could make way way better with some more effort.

What disturbs me so far is the characters designs (95 of the NPCs are not suiting to JA2), how they talk (the voice acting feels too silly to me most times), the simplified inventory and the looting system overall. Not last but least the enemies tactical AI.

Yeah this side entrance I saw 2 as I mentioned above ... well, I will take my time. First of all I need more money, like in real life ... lol. At the moment I am trying to take Bluebeard´s  Villa down in sector I9, still wondering if this makes sence. This Bluebeard for sure is the Kingpin of JA3.

The Boss with the heavy gold chain eeeh ? I heard he has lots of strong guards (the ones with the rasta colored t-shirts) around him like 20 or so, i dont think its a good idea to attack him in early game. Guess you can also make a story progression with him.

return fire perk is so annyoning to me, makes me want to stop playing.

I am two weeks in now on second difficulty level, and there's a lot of shotgun brutes. They run up to your squad across half the map, get a shot off and then park right in front of you.

When you return fire they retaliate AFTER spending all their AP and do a shitload of damage and bleeding, exposed etc whatnot. If your were bunched up chances are high half your squad is useless...

I also noticed those red faced brutes can move way further, it was also in XCOM2 where those sword guys (how they were called ? rangers ?) could really run close to you from far distance and melee you so it seems like they copy it a lil from there.

Yea they are annoying for sure, thats why its good to headshot them in real time or bomb and blow them away if possible.

@Warmonger Thanks for the interesting info, i will try to attack there today or tomorrow. I got already 2 good snipers in my team with Buns & Flay, Wendigo (IMP) & Igor doing the additional damage and Barry always close by once i get more then 2 enemies together i will blow them up, as i will keep Steroid more behind and bring him close only if necessary.

I love the challenge so far. KI is much more skilled than in JA2. It is acting together. I had major battles like in L8 defending it against 2 waves. First one coming in from the north which I mainly let the allies do it, preparing myself for the main wave coming from the west which at first I could only stop throwing a grande in a group of guys which tried overran us with knives. Was big fun td and hard work. Also the defending of K9 by night later needed lot of tactical skills. The northwest I left to the allies while myself I defended the center. Hard work again. Then I had a look into K6 and have now idea yet how to take/free the jail yet. Sniping and sneaking will not do it there at all. Also try to cross the bridge in D11 and good luck. All over I see a much betters fights than with JA2. In JA2 I used to sit behind some rocks waited and if they wont fired into the air to lure them in. Something which partly also works with JA3 btw but not always and less. And if really want hard just do not safe before acting. There is a hardcore mode You will hardly leave the small island with the village of Ernie.

JA3 has other shortcomings, like a bad almost useless shop system, and a bad quest management. Or that what a mercenary can carry is not calculated by weight but by backpack space, which is absolutely crap. The ability overview of the mercenaries is also crap. We had a red, green and blue vertical bar in JA2 and one knew immediately what was going on with a merc.

Interesting notes, i heard it now from several players that the jail sector is really pain in the @§§ as i didnt reached there yet. So what is the best tactic in the jail sector ? I heard there is a boss called Jackhammer that he is a hard nut to crack with his men together.
