  1. That was a nice trip down memory lane to the time when just being on the internet was fresh and exciting. 🙂 I like the current UI, but it was nice too read about and see some of the iterative process it took to get to the current UI to it's final form.
  2. I had a few minutes to spare . so I went through a couple videos and made a list. These are from the recent Beta, and I don't know if it will be exactly the same at launch or not.   3. The most recent JA game I played was Back In Action (it was flawed, but still enjoyable thanks to an excellent overhaul mod). I will try to pick mercs that were not included in that game as my main focus, at least for my first team. Of course having my own custom IMP character will be very welcome as well. Does anyone know of a list of the Mercs that are confirmed to be in JA3? I remember seeing them in a video, but I don't recall which of the beta previews it was.

  6. I am more than happy with it not being there. We have indicators in game as to what is a good shot or a risky shot. Between doing some math myself (weapon type, range, marksmanship, stance, cover, etc.) and things the mercs say, I think it's 100% fine as is.
  7. I expect there will be some small mention of it, either in a future dev diary, or on one of their Twitch streams. I expect that would be one of the last things they will talk about prior to release. I any case, I may be completely wrong on that, we shall see. 🙂

  9. I am hoping for something that is easy to mod as the Crusader Kings series, but we shall see. If it's just text editing and scripting I will dabble my toes in it, but for things beyond that it would take a dedicated tool (Bethesda Creation Kit style) for me to do anything.
  10. I really like the Bullet Simulation as it was presented so far. Overall, I do think that missed shots should still have a chance to hit any adjacent body part, especially with high Marksmanship mercs. For example if they aim for the Torso there should be a chance to hit the other body areas on a "miss". I would find it more confusing to always miss the entire enemy when aiming for the center of mass, and never hit them in the arm etc... at least with good Marksmanship Mercs. 🙂 I quite like what I have seen of the overall goal for combat in JA3 and it's current implementation looks pretty good.
  11. I do always like more options for character creation in any game, but I am content either way. . None of us got to choose what nation we were born into in real life, so I figure our primary identity is that we are all Human first and foremost. 🙂
  12. I hope the game is modifiable, but I do wonder if it being made with a proprietary engine will limit that. At the least, I suspect it will require a higher level of knowledge in order to make mods. Thanks to mods, I was able to get a lot of play time out of Jagged Alliance: Back in Action. That game was pretty rough without modding, but with modding it I got a lot of fun from it. Hopefully Jagged Alliance 3 will not need mods "to fix major things", but will allow mods in order to "add extra things". 🙂
  13. It is perfectly fine to like XCOM and to like Jagged Alliance both. I don't mind in the least if those two franchises overlap each other in some ways (referring primarily to gameplay). I personally think the setting of each franchise is different enough to keep them distinct. Others may disagree on that; different strokes for different folks as the saying goes.
  14. The Dev Livestream that they did recently (on 4-20-2023) had a little bit of that as far as why they had to make certain design choices. I suspect there will be more of that whenever they do the next one (they mentioned discussing Combat in detail, including the decisions regarding the "Chance To Hit" not being shown).
  15. It's in a fictional West African country. Yes there are weather effects that can affect map exploration and combat both (as I understand it). I don't know if there is any player interaction with animals or not. There are diamond mine(s) and convoys that can be used as an income source. I believe it is in the early 2000s (2001 is shown at the top of the laptop interface). Some others may be able to answer in more detail.
  16. Haemimont is the development studio that is making this game. (don't worry about the guy you replied to, he has not shown any evidence of being capable of positive discourse since arriving here)
  17. I am always a fan of as many settings and options as possible. Even if it's not something that I would ever use myself, I recognize that giving the game a means to appeal to a wider audience is always a good thing. The more new (to the JA series) people play the game and like it the better the chances are of me getting more good JA content in the future. 🙂
  18. The only way I could see this working is if they added a "Supernatural" mode (like the Aliens Sci Fi option in the past). Elliot's ghost could join the team, but I have a hard time seeing how he would be very useful for anything other than comedic value. 🙂
  19. I'm not sure where to ask this, but do we know what the max squad/party size is that can be on the same map section at once?
  20. A release date announcement seems likely to me. I would typically expect at least 1-3 months between the announcement and the actual release, but maybe it will be sooner than that. 🙂
  21. I would like to see all of them be added, but I realize that is unrealistic. I do wonder if it will be possible to add mercs by modding them in using the I.M.P character models etc...
  22. I have not had time to watch/read everything yet, but from the one article/review I had time to go over, it does feel like they are trying to capture the overall feel of the old JA1/JA2 games. I'm personally feeling quite optimistic right now. 🙂
