  1. I dont think so, cause there are plenty of AK 47s, but i actually didnt used it that much, and I meant its hard to find something youre looking for, because of sector-inventory managment system
  2. Caliber of Dragunov is 7,62x39 WP. @Warmonger meant type of ammo, i think. Depending on purpose. Its all in the game, if youre not sure, you just have to read the description on ammoboxes, which type it is and what its good for. So you can ask yourself in every gamesituation and load the most appropriate bullets. If you are moving mouse-cursor to your weapon, the possible bullets will be highlited/pointed out (at least if you can find it somewhere..:D).
  3. Ah yes, thanks. ๐Ÿ‘ So maybe i'll install that mod or just wait for editor, crafting all values for my one, already done some calculation, to have an better, appropriate relation.
  4. But the automatic weapon values were done for balancing reasons, i know. But i dont like the balance. Say merc is Standing in front of a soldier, youre shooting 2 bursts right in his chest and he will kill you with his knife next round. I would like it better, my mercs are for themselfes in danger to die, from enemy MG Auto fire or a handfull of bullets, or just one hit of an 7.62, immediately, instead of that. The healing system feels so godlike for me, that it is unfair to have against that Enemy AI. So i have to wait for editor, having more fun out of weapons.
  5. For me the same. I dumped almost all AR weapons. They were almost completly useless for me, because the reduced damage, when shooting burst/auto. (Apart from beeing absolutely unrealistic) which isnt a game fault, they were meaningless. Why should invest APs, when damage is reduced and its unlikely the bullets will hit. Apart from they are good for singleshots, because less APs to spend, but again, not as precise and less damage than Rifles. And if merc has a perk or observes he will spend a lot of bullets, with no or few effect. The only good AR for me, was the good old antiquated modified FAL bought in Grandmas Shop (cause deadliness + bearable range). All the rest was only pure trash for me. But mostly, in later game, my merc worked with m24 anyway.
  6. Not sure about, my memory is too bad, but in JA2 i think it was possible, there was a trick or so, after killin' deidranna and watched Credits, you could play on..๐Ÿค” When i remember it right, you have to give one enemy spreading-sector back to the enemy or so, before final bossfight. Would be cool for JA3. So i could have done the rest of island, after finishing Main Quest.
  7. Because it is easily possible to do so. It wasnt necessary to train anything (alone, isnt possible neither) Why should you do, when its more difficult without and you are too leazy to train your people? If you dont need to? Livewire had only one Long Range Weapon and one AR. Then the PDA (which doesnt helped mostly to see enemies, because i didnt reconed them before, i suppose) and then one medikit (that wasnt too necessary, because of relaxing a while) and 2 different smaller items (type grenades) or instead of that an RPG. It worked actually very good. You didnt need canteen, either wirecutter, nor camo, nor facegear, nor non existing toolbox (every merc has its own magic toolbox ;). Btw most of the time i even didnt equiped her with armor. (Interesting to see, that doesnt count as Weight..Fault? Intention?). Dont blame me, it just wasnt that Mission:Impossible, as expected. Group container is like the game cheating itself..
  8. Sometimes hourglass in enemy turn, kept spinning a Long Time and i thought, what ARE they doing, are they are planing a real serious counter-attack, against my single person? Will i get in trouble? Nope. In trouble with boredom, รคh YES! Extreme example: I observed, sometimes enemy did exactly that: Nothing, nothing, nothing, for rounds and rounds and rounds. They didnt even take cover, standing there in the rooms, didnt duck, standing there as an armed target, got shot every round again again and again, waiting for the next or hopefully for me, at least, the final shot, from my merc appeared out of cover. If that wasnt lazy AI it must be bugged. The only reason, why the were dangerous, because it was unpredictable, if they will awaken sometime..maybe exactly at that moment, i made a unconcentrated fault, because i slept in boredom (a bit comparable to waste of time inventory clicking)..but it was funny a little bit, at least ๐Ÿ˜‚ I had the same lame story, doing a sunday walk through this actually interesting looking sector, like you showed above. It was hm,... actually a tragedy having observe this drama in 3 acts. I dont think, the AI ever had a chance, because of that sectordesign.. Unfortunately, my merc was absolutely safe, like he threw tiny paperballs out of a window in a kindergarden.
  9. I read some arguments, reasonable for having an AI just the way, like it is. But i still have some reservations for the behaviour of AI in JA3. They are not so grounded on lemming wise behaviour, its more the actions of large groups feeling buggy, manymany times and sometimes it seemed AI is cheating other times (knowing where you are, when invisible f.e). I know JA2 was the the same, with enemy group behaviour. But that was 20 years ago. Sometimes even JA1 enemey behaviour felt more unpredictabal. Do you rember the map-editor witch came with UB (and DG)? You could differentiate enemy orders; well thought out (stationary, on guard, close Patrol, far patrol, on call, seek enemy, point patrol, random point patrol) and their attitude (defensive, cunning, brave. aggressive, aid, solo, fearless). So my experienced in Ja2, there was quiet a difference in enemy behaviour, which was definitivly visible and really recognazibale. Sometimes the attitude was the reason for that last manhunting an coward enemy, sitting scared hidden somewhere in a lonely corner, still being a deadly threat for too careless mercs. In JA3 it felt for me, sadly, there wasnt any difference at all for enemy types regarding attitude behaviour (except of enemy typ classes, which are using different typ of weapon-classes)..they all seemed aggressive when they recognize the player (into killing at all costs). But at least there were some order-differences to been seen. But maybe its dependable of difficulty level or maybe behaviour needs only some rework, and IS modifiable with some value changes on possibly existing attitude classes. So maybe im wrong with that point, but at the moment, it seems to me, there was a cut off nice features on purpose of simplification. Finally we will see, when JA3 Editor comes out. (Fun?fact: suicidal lemming behaviour are a tasteless and disturbing Hoax created by Disney in the 50s..:/)
  10. 'My' Livewire stats after completing solo-run. Dispite she has Level 10 now, some perk categories werent still available because of low stats (which werent getting better too much btw), which i find good.
  11. So i made my own short game-review, to share my own thoughts and overall feelings about JA3. Description: + Well done, - Bad, +/- Draw "Sounds & Vision" + Good music, not annoying even after time (not too intrusive, not too boring) + Impressive (cause real) weapon sounds. + Nice graphic representation with a lot of details (realistic looking nature, lot of nice plants, fishes in the water, animals, scelets, etcetc) + Sorrounding is distroyable. - Very few short sequences. Gameplay, gamedepth, balance + Lifelike athmosphere (overall leveldesign, sounds & music) + Laptop emails (storyline or just with funny content) + Interesting storyline, red hot topics, profound & controversial contents. + Enough adult content, not beeing a child-game + Character drawing (less cartoony than i thought, but not too much looking to wannabe real military lifelike mercs) + Felling there have been put a lot effort in the JA3 world design in general. - AI seems like beeing stupid and scripted (on stratetic and tactical level) - Enemy group sizes are bit dissapointing - Overwatch system isnt very helpful and is tricked by the AI (cause overwatch-area its visible to AI) - Overwatch system felt unsatisfying. Interrupt-system was more fun to me. +/- PERK system (im not sure if i like it or not) +/- Weather and environmental factors. I read about that topic, they are in, yes they are visible, but about effects, well promised me more. Couldnt recognize extreme weather effected my merc, weapons or strategy, IMO effects were too low and not visible to me). Some Merc dialogues could have give a hint, weather effecting something or someone. It just didnt felt dramatically influenced anything, ime. Weapons + No more weird "tons of guns", with every imaginable caliber and from all army-archives worldwide. I like it, less is sometimes better. Arsenal is almost perfectly adequate to country, setting and types of enemy. + Nice graphics, detailed optic (even mods are visible) + Nice sounds - No more draw costs, AP plus for first shot (less tactical deepness) - No more different penalty / auto penalty? values, for different wpns (not sure about that). - No more barrage with autoweapons on areas or enemysquads, just pointfire (less tactical deepness) +/- Instead of 1 mortar grenade 4 or 5 independent incomings (you will never know, what youre hitting exactly, even if your merc ist good enough). Is that to be solved by a special perk? - Unrealistic weapon values in general (AK 74 f.e. based on its stats is one of the most advanced, compared to other AR, or even the best ingame-AR) + official editor announced. Gameplay + Traditional roundbased fun, yes. + Destroyable surrounding can be included to your strategy (like collapsing rooftops) + Lot of different sidequests. - Merc inventory box (btw Ja2 had its own limitation here, weight overload but wasnt possible to use, because lmt slots) has annoying tactical inventory managment (f.e. full inventory, its not possible change between second rifle on merc, to smaller items; without drop down items) - Catastrophic Inventory-managment-system (allready mentioned before, by testers & gamers) (+ maybe some patches will follow, i heard some rumors) - Scripted events (Flag-Hill event when searching for Santiago having an bossfight and Santiago cant be shot in tactical screen) As summary i would give 80% or 4 of 5 Stars- It was fun to play Jagged Allaince 3. But for challenge & tactical fun & depth, JA2 was better, imo. I have done only a speedrun, but suppose to play it only with some modded adjustments again. First play was like a tutorial, next time ill choose "dead is dead", for a more challenging expierence. I would like to read your summarys here. Could be also interesting for both devs and JA2 fan base. After some reviews we could summarize.
  12. Another weak Point, using silencers, surpressors. I real life they are working more like that: heard the sound, but cant make out, where the shot came from. So the sniper is more safe in his hideout. In JA3, like in most of games, silencers meaning silenced, mute, can't hear a shot. So here: how can the enemy hear, where the shot came from? When there is NO sound. Supported muzzle flash? Crime scene investigation? This game mechanic design i would call lazy thinking. I hope its modable, somehow in the suture. Cause most of the times, i experienced: enemy get shot, every other enemy somewhere knows the pproximately merc position immediately. Yes, i know its a game. But such things mean a hell lot of fun less. Stealth and kills without reactions only works when youre in hidden mode and even then your camo is lost, when there is more than one soldier and some others nearby (not in sightrange of the target). Or the enemy ist standing and doing almost nothing, like in some undergroundsectors. Its just annoying when it feels like your sniper position is actually an open secret to the AI (and they only pretend, to not know.)
  13. For me colonel was 2nd in row, i killed him, but didnt speak to him. Dont know, if that would have been possible (he had an Steyr Aug, but i didnt liked its values, so i let it lay).
  14. Beware of some critism & spoileralert. Its not to bash the game, i only wondered a lot about AI, after my first playtrough. I want to hear your expierences and also share some expierences i made with reference to the AI. And i questioned myself are there some bugs or is it pure AI stupidity? I know, Jagged Alliance AI was never really Albert Einstein, but JA3 seems even worse for me, at the moment. The game seemed a bit too easy for me (even when i played Mission Impossible), because of the AI wasnt that clever. Aside from the 2 boss levels, it wasnt that difficult i thought it would be. F.e. it was possible to autoresolve successfully (1 Livewire against 7 or 8 commandos) and at some places i could shoot at enemies 10 times with flashbang-UBGs and they still stand at the same place, like 10 rnds before, till they finally bite the dust...boring smtms. Sometimes they seem to know exactly where you are, other Times, they seem to have absolutly no glue at all, despite seeing you one time per round. I also wondered a lot about the autoresolve results. Mostly my militia or my (1) merc won against a heavy load of commandos. JA2 was much more difficult for me, all together. The AI seemed better, wasnt standing lame around (in groups) and looking against walls in the opposite direction of the already attacking merc (no flashbangs or stun or toxic gas was used before). When deidrannas soldier got attacked, they behaved much more clever & realistic, imo. In my experiences Grand Chiens soldiers mostly doing suicidal moves (like running to your mercs or his unknown location) and sometimes, they just doing nothing. Sometimes they show the perc fast reaction, drop down in cover, before bullet can hit them, despite the fact the bullet were shot silenced by unseen merc & behind their line of sight (great Idea, btw, the men who are faster than a bullet and even the sound...^^ plz dont try that at home ^^) Although it seems (or is it a matter of fact?) there is a 360 degrees vision sight.. ... On stratetic map there wasnt a big challenge either. There wasnt too much attacks and there wasnt any surprises, the patrols seemed very rare and rather harmless. In JA3 enemies seems a bit absend, also very passive, imo. The patrol and squadsizes was also rather poor (cant mess with 1.13 difficulties : D : D : D ) What is with all that? Is something wrong, can it be solved or is the Ja3 AI a bit lazy and disabled? Somebody expierenced similar? What do you think? PS: In loving memory to the never ending Drassen counter-attack ; )
  15. 1. I finished a fast solo-merc run on highest difficulty-settings + no sevegame, to try out JA3. I was interested, if its possible. I the beginnig, i just wanted to study the game, testing hardness, but after a time, i decided to have something like a speed run, without doing sidequests and concentrate only on the main goal. So i only had one mine, but that was enough. In the last days, when the Mine was running out, i had 300000 or so. My merc finally ended up on Level 7 or 8. It is possible, but sometimes (only some sectors) it seemed impossible. In my solo-run i changed between 3 Low-Levelmercs. The Island i did with Blood. Then i thought it would be good to have an better explosive-expert and Barry took over duty, on mainland. Then i wanted better weapons, so i needed a very good mechanics and i changed Barry with Livewire (actually i didnt liked her, but then she proofed to be very good & became my substitute for the role of Reaper or Shadow. No explicit spoilers, but a touch of them, follows, Caution. 2. When i hired her, for my first time, i didnt knew about Livewires special capability. But i turned Out to be very helpful, when playing with just one merc under such circumstances & you want to play as a unseed killer. But it didnt felt like cheating, because it is wasnt active that often, because there wasnt always possible to recon or i didnt took the time for that (its also a risk getting wounded). I really enjoyed to play with her and i used her mainly as an swift & deadly sniper. Eagles-Nest was the most challenging sector, because i couldnt save or retreat and AI always seems to know where my merc was. So ive got to restart over and over again, till i finally could make it somehow (didnt mod or cheat). Luckywise i reconed that sector before, so with Livewire i knew where enemies we're, otherwise i couldnt made it, i suppose. 3. Playing with one Merc, conclusion; Its fun to play JA3 with one merc, but of course a bit but hectic sometimes (keeping the Gang alive on tac screen, is sometimes a bit hard naturally, f.e. and some sectors, like the last one are a bit to difficult sometimes (or Flag Hill, from the wrong Side, in the end ^^) Next time, i'll do it with more than just one merc, to follow the storyline better and enjoying all sidequests and stories, see more lovely designed places of Grand Chien and meet even more nice people. ๐Ÿ™‚
  16. Devs style-decisicion is a interesting topic, btw. Actually there is a lot of surface content in the game. Mannequins wearing some different backpacks f.e. But for some reasons, they didnt find their way on mercs and npcs back, maybe unknow design-decisions or its imaginable, they designed them and got in trouble with some problems, who knows, maybe some graphic issues. Maybe its the same problem showing weard vests and helmets of mercs.
  17. Weapon editing; concerning all weapon characteristics, to have a more adequate, understandable armory, in relation to archetypes; having more logical weapon-relationships (concerning weapon stats and behaviour).
  18. I really like the new clothes of the mercs, but... when I saw some mannequins in somekind of a shop, in one of the first trailers, my first thought was, oh hey maybe i can dress up my mercs. ๐Ÿ˜… Or, wait, what about a nail studio? Getting some tattoos or a new haircut? What about having a beard? Hmm..๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜† (GTA Style). But, Nope.
  19. Im playing JA3 with one merc; mission impossible, no easy modus, dead ist dead, till the bitter end. I dont have to save-load too much, because its not allowed anyway. So ill try different tactics and get to know my enemy better. I must say, its actually not that hard i imagined. Maybe i played too long Mini-day Z 1 on mobile 3th difficulty ..and it wasnt allowed to saveload too, or Stalker Alpha, Ironman. So compared to this JA3 with one merc its actually easy. But trust yourself and go on, i think you gonna manage it easily. For me its pure fun and with more mercs than one, it would be maybe even more fun, but less challenging. Merc is not to decisive, more stratetic descisions, when to send him where f.e.
  20. Youre looking for uniformity and military? There are a lot of military uniform IMP and AIM merc mods at Steam.. Or if you dont care bout Aim personalities and if there will be an unlimited-number Imp mod, you can create your own personal regular-soldier army. Or you go for that "Revenge of the Adonis" mod f.e.
  21. Well, i think we are all members of an mentally limited, if not mentally retarded specie, which doesnt realize, that its digging the already existing own grave with every day even deeper.. Human nature has biological a strong primitive, destructive part, which isnt removable. I think that might be the reason for the fate of mankind to die out. The question is, how will the junkie (mankind) die? By his additiction (for might & money f.e.), by accident (nuclear war, asteroid) or something else (clima change results, virus, etc). What ever we bet, we wont survive our supposition..๐Ÿ˜† Nevertheless its actually a interesting story (i would like rather read about), only a bit sad, at least if youre a human.
  22. We are not alone with our pondering. ๐Ÿ˜… But in famous company. "They [Young People] have exalted notions, because they have not been humbled by life or learned its necessary limitations; moreover, their hopeful disposition makes them think themselves equal to great things -- and that means having exalted notions. They would always rather do noble deeds than useful ones: Their lives are regulated more by moral feeling than by reasoning -- all their mistakes are in the direction of doing things excessively and vehemently. They overdo everything -- they love too much, hate too much, and the same with everything else." Aristotle (322-384 BC). "The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers." Socrates (470-399 BC) "I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise [disrespectful] and impatient of restraint". Hesiod (670-740 BC) "The world is passing through troublous times. The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint. They talk as if they knew everything, and what passes for wisdom with us is foolishness with them. As for the girls, they are forward, immodest and unladylike in speech, behavior and dress." Peter the Hermit (1050-1115 AD) Maybe we are too old..๐Ÿ˜…
  23. I dont want to dis you, just explained, why i dont have your problems. Its your descision, not playing with savegames and so you have to live with the consequences, not having any docs in that special case. IMO there shouldnt be an unlimited source of mercs because someone decide to invent an new difficult level, living with death of necessary mercs. Anyway actually in JA3 no docs at all are needed. The mechanics allows you to have none and get healed without. Its all about the way you like to play it and your strategy decisicions. And actually it's not pointless, when i told you, better having a low or no death rate, because of other ingame mechanics (in older title you couldnt hire many mercs, when youre looses got too high, because they didnt trust you anylonger).
  24. Understood. Didnt noticed THAT, till now. Well at least its funny, isnt it? ๐Ÿ˜œ Maybe devs motto was, REAL guys only carry the heavy guns, neither plastic soldiers nor needles..๐Ÿ˜…
  25. Jagged 3 isnt a mil-sim. Its leanded loosely to military contents, yes. But mainly its an RPG, with some tactic elements. You even can see that on weapon values, i didnt celebrate these either. But its not a drama or bad work. Its just not reality, because its not meant to be. If it was a milsim, the whole game would be COMPLETLY different, as an ex-mil, you should recognize that... Btw Schwarzeneggers 'Commando'-dude could carry around 5 MGs and some small arms, i suppose. Thats basic game logic, you know.
