I saw the Expendables 3 last week again since its release in the year 2014. The first half of the movie feels like it was the direct inspiration for JA3 with its setting, enemies and so on. It is really funny to watch that. Could be called Jagged Alliance 3 the movie.

My favourite is still part 2. This is one of the best action movies ever. Remember guys Expendables 4 is also coming this year!

@WILDFIRE Totally agree with you, part 2 was the best, to be a bad merc villain suited so much to Van Damme. Then the comeback of Arnie and Bruce Willis, also Chuck Norris was there.

Jason Statham VS Scott Adkins (Yury Boyka) the battle was also not bad in part 2.

Part 3 was also ok watched it lots of times, you can imagine Wesley Snipes somehow like Blood Hanson. 😁

And Antonio Banderas was so funny, quirky a little.

Part 4 for real ? Didnt watched the trailer as yet, but part 4 arent making too much noise like part 1 and 2.

@WILDFIRE Oppps i also wanted to post this here, yea Extraction is 1 of the best recent action movies imo, against a Pakistani drug lord as villain, have watched this movie several times. Its somehow Jagged Alliance like. Cant wait for part 2 (hope he will not become a unreal super hero like John Wick in part 2).

The Hurt Locker is a good film but that scene annoys me because it makes the British soldiers look like rookies. I can't remember if it says who they actually were (PMCs, mercs, SAS) but I would have thought that they would have been the better soldiers compared to the American unit in that particular scenario.

Yeah, the Brits there were just mercs, these guys were there to bounty hunt. Nah, they're not rookies, ...but i think they were just unlucky. Funny how Ukraine change the war so much. Now we know, you don't go into ops without drone operator for overwatch. The American unit were 'specialist' with multiple tour of duty; but no One Shot, One Kill for them. They waited long, long time to get the kill shot. So, seems plausible.

Predator is such a good movie because it has more than one theme. On the face of it, it is just a big, macho, gung-ho movie with lots of action stars. The attack on the enemy camp has a typical '80s feel to it with lots of bullets fired (with some enemies getting more bullets than needed), lots of fiery explosions and finally, seeing the minigun in action. The minigun is totally impractical and completely overused by now but Predator was one of the first movies to feature it, probably the first to see it used by one man on foot, and it quite rightly wowed everyone that saw it in action.

So, while the camp battle scene could be seen as dated, there is so much more to the film. As I said, it starts off looking like an action movie. Then, it becomes a murder mystery, a sci-fi horror and a survival movie. Arnie's character, Dutch is in over his head by the end of the movie and in the final scenes, you can see how Dutch is forever changed by it all. He and his team were together for so long and they were the best. Then only he remained and even that was a close call. Not only that but he now knows aliens exist.

Lastly, I think the Predator is one of the best looking aliens of all time. Its overall appearance, its technology, its movement and strength. Other than Predator 2, they haven't really stuck to those aspects and tried to change the Yautja species in unnecessary ways. Also, they have never since got the mouth right with any of the movies after the first two. The mandibles need to be more closed over the mouth. They altered it so the mouth is more exposed. I'm not sure why that change was made. When you see the Predator reveal his face for the first time (especially if you never knew what he looked like), you can see one mean looking alien.

Really glad they didn't stick with the original costume.

Don't belive I saw the first Predator movie until I was 12-13 or so. But I had Predator 2 on VHS since as long as I can remember.
