  1. I sooooo much agree with developers to remove CtH, and so much disagree with you about them. But this is even not an issue: the decision is made. So the discussion is over!
  2. I still wonder which way they'll represent western Africa... as central and eastern Europeans aren't that good at understanding the African continent.
  3. George Lucas made is decision, I could disagree, but it was his movie and his choice. Why complaining? Actually you should follow the example of Lucas, he didn't like studios' decisions, so he worked to be independent. So, make money, purchase the Jagged Alliance licence and make the game the way you want.
  4. Maybe they are kind of religion or cult. The influence would be more Haiti than western Africa.
  5. The last official communication said: "No CtH in JA3". It's an editorial choice. I won't even (again) discuss my position, but that's quite simple, the game will be released soon and time for choices is over. So, if you're sad about it, be sad, but it won't change. If no CtH is too much for you, no one will blame you. For me the game looks great, and I'd respect you if you'd tell me the opposite, I just tell you that discussion is over. From here, you have two options: try the game without CtH, or wait for the DLC or JA4 to eventually have them. Others attitude are pointless.
  6. If the story is good, if the combats are is good, if the different skills are smartly exploited, it the mood is great, if you have some personalization and a lot of games. I think no one will remember the endless discussions about the CtH. What was great about JA1 and JA2, is you could play it for a long long time. Logically they're just fixing the last bugs now, so they should focus on the release now, and not engage on something that could delay the project.
  7. Most probably this was decided a long time ago, at the beginning of the project. The idea of making the game live a little bit is good and most probably they took it into consideration, as it was already the case between JA1 and JA2. It seems JA3 takes place in early 2000, which means a dozen years after JA2, so mercs should be older but not that old.
  8. "Cogito ergo sum" What if the entire world is just and only me? How can I be sure I really am? This thread is turning philosophical! 🙂
  9. It seems to me bodies were staying 2 or 3 days before disappearing, to have them for a week or more is a bit long. Still having the bodies for 1 day or 1 month would not change much...
  10. Maybe they wanted to reduce the effect of killing enemies you don't even know being there (even if you already know things from a previous game or save).
  11. Design is a sensibility and it's difficult to please everyone from that perspective. I thing they didn't want to give the idea of a structured army, quite the opposite from that. They wanted to reflect the poor equipment and the greedy opportunism of the local dictator. It's not illogical and therefore blurs the line between soldiers and civilians; what we see in many African militias.
  12. I agree, it's stupid. In fact it's even worse than that, this enemy was having a bottle of vodka just two hours before, being dead drunk he shouldn't be able to move. Moreso, the rifle he has was damaged by his younger brother when he went with it to some circus elephant attraction. I can't understand how developers weren't considering elephants walking on the gun making it useless. And last but not least, this guy's mother is really is sick and was asking him to go to pick up some medicine for her; so he shouldn't even be there! Therefore, it'll be great from Heamimont to take fully in consideration all the events in their resolution system. A friend of mine even underlined the game being absurd from astrological point of view, as some key characters would not behave like that according to their astrological theme. Refusing eligibility to a burst because there's not enough of bullets is not logical. If development team continues like that they'll end considering the gun is also needed for the burst. What a shame!
  13. I'm not sure the game is known enough for a 129€ package. Concerning what is inside, THQ/Haemimont Games went far to get a little, while they had the gold at their feet. The card idea is not that bad, but they could make it a book including all the profiles of all the mercs included in JA since the first. Beyond mere cards, they could fully update their background and history. The same for AIM. The advantage would be to start working on the background of the game for upcoming release, they could include all the concept art they have. For sure this would be for fans. Now, what about others, I'm not sure a waterproof box is that enticing. So what? Still about the cards, they could try to make it a game (it easy to copy Pokemon/magic rules structure and adapt them to merc world). Maybe a strategic approach where Jagged Alliance is more tactical. They could even make a TTRPG from it, to take advantage of other's dynamic, they could use D&D5 rules as an engine (the movie's just released, who knows). You just need a game designer for that, that's very easy (I'm from that world, and it wouldn't be hard to find and get). This to say they had to start from: "we don't have money" (and that's not a shame), and from there see what do we have already people want. To print a book, and a card game would not be that expensive. You'd just need a good book and a card game. If you wanted to go further, add a steelbook case for the game. Again, I'm sure they did what they could, but it was possible to provide much more with a lower cost. Now, alea jacta es! I wish it'll work like this.
  14. Thanks for the support @chr_isso I'm tired of non-constructive negative comments, I'll use my influence. I'll copy some of the post of Lunokhod and tell my students in community management not to hesitate to kicked out this kind of profiles from forum and followers. In some social network they have an option where no one sees the moron posts, he still see them on screen, but doesn't know only him can see them. It's the limit of web 2.0, many people speaking have nothing to say.
  15. I do support artificial intelligence over natural stupidity! Stay fit and keep faith, there are people in need of organs, so maybe one day you'll prove yourself useful.
  16. I'd love to be a developper but I doubt my limited skills in HTML/CSS would qualify me. Now, I'd love to be part of the team developing Jagged Alliance. So, if someone from Haemimont is kind enough to read it I'll be very happy to be even just a beta play tester. So everyone believing I'm already part of the team PLEASE do support my candidature. (If others also do it couldn't be better). I promise as soon as I'll be even just a beta tester I'll underline it everywhere. What's true is that I love Jagged Alliance. I discovered the first one when it was released, played the second and never liked much what followed. Over the decades I checked the ware about of the game. As I already mentioned I played others games like Wages of war, or X-Com. Or even Syndicate with its cyberpunk universe. I enjoyed them quite a lot but my favorite remains Jagged Alliance. I'm not a maniac of military stuff even if I served in Bosnia during the 90s. What surprised @anon474 and @Lunokhod is that I'm very positive about the game. If you guys had enough of brains you should just imagine people around like a Gauss curve, you're part of a small percentage of people who are over negative about the game, I'm from a small percentage of people who are over positive about the game. As a e-learning designer I know what's a project, what's your dream about it, and how reality ask some sacrifices from you. Still you do your best, even if you're paid, just because you're a professional. Some people just spit at your work because they're just ignorant and purposeless, and what they express is their hate of their own meaningless being. One last proof, I'm not a dev, it's that if I was one of them I'd erase you from the forum. You're parasites, you waste the space you take. You're just anti ecological has there's no justification for the energy you cost in servers operation. You're just complain and pollution, and therefore should be sort out like the garbage you are.
  17. It would be great for the gun store to sell "unusual/rare firearms", even some old WW1 or WW2 rifles and handguns.
  18. So far, the game looks good and interesting. There are a lot of possible options and improvements, but they can arrive later in a DLC or a JA4. What we need is a decent game with a supportive community, and enough of sales to fuel more Jagged Alliance sequels.
  19. I agree with that 200%, because I played JA2 and just experienced what you say for years, BUT... if I was never playing the game I'm not sure I'd be convinced. Saying that, I only suggest someone in communication should find the "perfect" way to express it. So well, X-Com players will be thrilled not having CtH. About your words "by feel", I'll precise from my own experience the feeling playing Jagged Alliance is full of emotions. Because you're never "sure" of anything, and the absence of CtH is deeply part of it.
  20. Will we have ammunitions management like in previous JA (with or without different kind of bullets) or will we have magical guns with endless firing capability?
  21. Picking up is definitely a plus as it opens the way to other possibilities and mission (like enemy capture). Now if they're no time to exploit "picking up" I see no reason to add so burden to development team.
  22. I think you have to be congruent. You can't invoke the "spirit of JA" to say "you have to make it like this because it was part of the original JA" and at the same time consider SciFi mode shouldn't be part of the game. As it was part of Jagged Alliance 2. Either you consider the structure of the game should be respected, or you don't. You can say, "I want it because, I want it", but then percentage to hit or any other X-Com influence is no less legitimate. So, don't argue "it was in previous JA" if you don't support it all. SciFi was part of JA, therefore part of the success of the game. That you enjoyed it or not. Moreso, refusing options is the best way to smother it in some radical inbreeding.
  23. In FPS you don't have percentage to hit, and it's fine for everyone. In X-Com you have them but it's influencing your game actions and sometimes it's even generating frustration (because your were so sure to hit, you find unfair not to say more, to fail). Not having percentage to hit makes sense in the game experience of Jagged Alliance. After, to be honest, if you don't have ammunition management you can add percentage. Who cares shooting for hours with 1% chance if you have an infinite bag of bullets. I don't know if development team is reading these posts, but they should as there are here many people who have a deep knowledge of Jagged Alliance.
  24. The game has enough violence so far; too much violence will turn it into a cartoon.
