  1. Make aim percentage optional. This way those who want it, will activate the option; and those who don't want it, won't. Therefore we can move forward and solve significant issues.
  2. @Mancho I understand you. I believe, once the game will be completed, that some of your inventory will be addressed but I'm not naive enough to believe it would be fully addressed. Nonetheless, as you said, a quarter century later JA2 achievement remains a challenge. Now I'll ask you if we should start from JA3, and positively motivate the development team to get something quite good now and then get our dreams fulfilled in a couple of years, or ruin the project with (legitimate) critics and wait another quarter century to get what we consider a decent sequel of Jagged Alliance? This project is too close to the end to get significative changes. The best solution, the wise solution, is to organize to get the JA4 we want. Maybe we can structure ourselves to work on a scope statement, and identify all points we consider key. From our exchanges and discussions about it we can make a document, and then use it to pressure future development teams. If you, or anyone else is interested lets work on "Jagged Alliance Next"...
  3. @Lunokhod you try to be provocative... Waoh! Actually, you're purposeless but not useless. You're a living advertisement for condoms and contraception, a proof that sometime, swallowing it, is a contribution to a better world.
  4. I thought America had changed since Oscar Wilde said: "America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between." If you're old enough to take or give your life, you should be old enough to decide to have a beer or not.
  5. @Solaris_Wave ignorance is not a virtue, nor the lack of creativity an advantage. Since I post my message I learned JA3 will take place in some fictional west-Africa country. And it enforces what I wrote. I think you'll be surprised to know "voodoo" belief comes from that area. Since there was a SciFi mode in JA2, I suggested to change aliens/bugs for zombies. Someway I had in mind Lovecraft with the Reanimator movie (and why not Universal Soldier). I know some don't like the SciFi mode, but it was optional. I don't force anyone to play it, and people with enough vocabulary should understand the meaning of an option. Concerning crocodiles, I'm afraid for those who'll discover here that crocodiles are part of the fauna from Africa. In JA2, there was wild cats present in several situation. Again, to have the same, but not exactly the same, I suggested to have crocodiles instead of wild cats. This was the opportunity for water confrontation, a glimpse to JA1... Still, I also had in mind that african dictator who was feeding is crocodiles with political opponents. I'm very surprised to see around here freedom seems to be what you impose and not what you share. One last thing, if speech is for free, remember it costs others when you speak without thinking or without knowing what you're speaking about.
  6. 2001 is also fine. No iPhone, no Samsung, we'll be all equipped with Nokia!
  7. @Kordanor I understand better. But trying to educate stupid people often ends up as a waste of time. Honestly, I don't know if I belong to JA community or X-Com community. I played X-Com because I loved so much Jagged Alliance that I wanted more, and I enjoy both. I think speaking about community is a bit artificial. I think a good idea should not be rejected because it's from X-Com, and a bad idea shouldn't be kept because it's from Jagged Alliance. This said, JA has a history and style that shouldn't be betrayed. After, it's all about communication. Maybe to explain "journalists" and influencers why this option was selected, how it's part of the game's traditions. Personally I find more immersive not to have CtH, now if it helps JA to be more successful including them, it's not a drama either.
  8. The graphics are really beautiful and the presentation of the world is enticing. It seems to be tropical climate. Will we have rain and storms? Which kind of animals are living in the area? Could we interact with some of them? You were speaking of diamonds. Is there some diamond mine in the area? When the action is taking place? In the 2020s?
  9. I don't understand this problem being compared to X-Com. X-Com is a great game, so being compared to a great game is not shameful. Will people purchase X-Com instead of JA? I see no X-Com in release this year or the next. So, I believe you made a benchmark between JA and other turn based strategy games, and then you choose a game mechanic. So, CtH or no CtH, is easy to answer: "what do people want?" (you can also complete this question by "do people know what they really want?") Personally it's not the CtH that make me consider JA is different from X-Com. The atmosphere and protagonists are the difference. In X-Com you're an organisation, in Jagged Alliance you're a band of brothers. You're not trying to save the universe, you're just here for adrenalin. No conspiracies here, just greed and bloodlust.
  10. I hope the villain will be great too. But in JA games the main antagonist was never great, they were too cartoonish. JA should have villains quite like James Bond movies. I think the main villain was chosen at the beginning, so I cross my fingers but anyway, after Deidranna, it shouldn't be worse.
  11. Ok, thanks for the info Elder III. The only thing I could ask Haemimont for (besides a good JA game) is a making-off. People like me don't know much about how a video game is made; the reason behind a specific choice, why this was possible and this not, etc. For sure you have some info in interviews, but it'll be cool to have some kind of making-off and feed backs from all the people of the team.
  12. Quite funny to see having a beer is 18+, but killing people for money is acceptable for kids... The brothel was already done, so we need something else now. More subversive. Saints Row 3 was going quite far and it was tons of fun; still Saints Row is not Jagged Alliance.
  13. I love this voodoo/hoodoo guy! I don't know who is Haemimont. If you can do a better job, do it. Seriously! I only want the game to be good, and to be released. Will it be perfect? I hope so, but I'm too old to believe in Santa Claus. If I can personnalise my character and the game is descent enough I'll buy it, and then expect for the next iteration to be better.
  14. Elliot is not dead, he was only shot in the head. But Elliot's brains are quite small and the bullet was not fatal, he recovered quickly after. As a merc, Elliot should be worst than any other, a real nightmare inside the team. As any real curse he must be able to last quite a long time.
  15. Positive Lunokhod. Be POSITIVE! I don't know how to program a game so I won't lecture the developers. And, yes, even if the characters are not reacting to an explosion, it's still possible to subdue them. I wish the game to be successful. If not in JA3, maybe subduing will be present in JA4. And if not, maybe then in JA5. And for you to know, the first time I heard a shell blowing a hill I wasn't reacting much more. For sure it wasn't that close to me. JA is just a game, I believe the team needs precise but also positive feedbacks.
  16. Yes, I heard about it a couple of years ago but I was never able to put a hand on it. Then there was the other official games release, but none was good from my point of view. Now, there's this new version JA3, and it seems to be close to what I've been expecting for the last 20 years. I also played X-Com. It's good but... Like many people around here I played many games more or less influenced by Jagged Alliance 2, but none had the full flavor. It's why I'm presenting ideas very humbly in this forum. It's difficult to "remake" a Jagged Alliance. But I trust the editor, designers and developers of the game to release something great. I'm sure one way or another they integrated some ideas of JA2 1.13.
  17. It seems JA3 introduces negotiation and the possibility not to fight every single living creature. That's great, even if the pleasure of the firefight and enemies elimination is the core of the game. Nonetheless, it would be interesting to be able to capture opponents, and therefore to have subduing attacks. This could enforce new types of missions like capturing an enemy for interrogation ("how many soldiers there?", "what's their equipment?", etc.). Besides, it could offer infiltration options. This could also provide more interest for martial artist characters, and even offer boxing/wrestling contests (eventually to get some additional cash).
  18. The suggestion was to make more of them (especially concerning side quests). Now, the other option would be to be able to create fully up to 3 characters, and to be able to add some team effects. This way you could create 3 SEALs, or 3 yakuzas, or whatever you want...
  19. In JA mercs had different origins and backgrounds and sometime it was suggesting the idea to team them up. Keeping the same idea I think there should be categories (formal or informa) helping to regroup characters with common origins. These categories could be: national (same nationality), military (same army), legal (same law enforcement interest), criminal (same criminal organization), siblings (same family or love interest). These categories could spark some specific side-quest and it'll be another opportunity to explore more sides of the game.
  20. If you find "everyone insults you personally" it's a good start to question yourself. I agree with you writing: "it's Jagged Alliance and not another game". I assume then you were playing Jagged Alliance 1, and Jagged Alliance 2 (with extensions). If so, you know there was options in the game and it's exactly what I was speaking about. That you weren't playing or enjoying some parts of the game doesn't make them another game. If they keep the "bugs/aliens" it's perfectly fine for me. But I think it's possible to keep the spirit from it and replace the bugs by zombies. You could get infected by bugs and there's a parallel with zombies. I'm just discussing about that. The same way I'd enjoy them replacing the wild cats by sharks or crocodile in water area. Just because the confrontation with animals was part of JA2, but I see no reason to limit oneself to exactly the same creature. I want Jagged Alliance to be the same fun, but not just a copy.
  21. Game Options and Customizations are important. I enjoyed much the "bugs/aliens", but never wanted to impose it to anyone. The same for creating your own character, I love it, but I know some people don't like or just don't care. What matters is that everyone gets the game they expect.
  22. +1 for the Mac version here too. I agree with Konservendose, there's strategy gamers community on Mac.
  23. Lunokhod, obviously you didn't know all the people playing Jagged Alliance. Most of the people I know playing the game enjoyed the SiFi mode. One las thing Lunokhod, you seem to believe Jagged Alliance is yours only. That's a pity. Most probably your mom' didn't love you enough and your dad was upset you were peeing in your bed. I'm sad for you, but I'm not your psy. If you feel bad about people not sharing your point of view, finance your own development team for your own game. If you were finishing kinder garden you'd know a forum is for people to express themselves. If you can't handle that without being arrogant or agressive, find yourself a boyfriend or a girlfriend, and come back when you'll be fully grown up. Thanks you Reloecc, it's great to know it's probably already in the game.
  24. In Jagged Alliance 2 there was a SiFi mode integrating alien-style creatures. To remake it would be nice, but just a remake. What about offering something else? What about zombies? This will provide some additional game experience. Like in JA2, it could be an option you activate, or don't. If there is an hospital somewhere it could be some weird medical experiment (something in-between Universal Soldier and Reanimator). There could be a side quest with an additional villainous character (Herbert West?) with improved health or regenerative powers. If you're interested by this idea or see some ways to improve it. You're welcome!
