  1. Not sue on what difficulty you play, but on First Blood and Commando you get the first round, so before the dialogue you'd move the squad behind the totem, tent, etc, but generally atop the hill. Have your shotgunner do the talking, as they will have a few targets to pick from. The colonel walks away with a bunch of his soldiers, so there's usually 5-6 in the nearest vincinity on the hill top, so your priorities list / sequence of actions is as follows: 1. have cover, kneel, you may even hide. 2. be ready to go burst with AP ammo on each of your mercs withot a need to reposition (yes, it sucks, it's meta-gaming) 3. do the talk 3. eliminate the nearest enemies 4. eliminate grenadiers / ordnance guys (armored, use AP) 5. set up overwatch > end round 6. clear anyone climbing the hill / snipe enemies further away > end round 7. mvoe away from mortar fire, INTO cover 8. repeat 🙂 If you have issues clearing the hill on round 1 gear up and do the camp later. Also, a golden thought in my opinion: An overwatch is usually MUCH better than the last shot/burst. Set up an overwatch on an almost dead enemy and finish them off the moment they breathe in their round.
  2. No, getting the Major and all his dialogue options works fine if you follow the assumed storyline for Col. Fuckoff. AP on armored enemies, HP on unarmored. That simple. And you can't always 1shot them, because you're not hidden so you don't get a stealth kill. Hint: there's an ammo type that increases the crit chance - that will help in certain cases.
  3. There's no overwatch with melee weapons, but cool story bro...
  4. That would make great "last words" 😄
  5. I'll search for the mod then, thank you! EDIT: I will use the mod, thank you!
  6. Uhm, why not just check the in-game description?
  7. Not sure if any of the developer have claustrophobia or ever have met a person with a claustrophobia, but I am sure that the implementation of it in the game is ridiculous. I get it - going into a confined space is a traumatic experience. But once you leave a closed space you feel relieved, and should not suffer a PERMANENT (?) morale penalty. Even if it's not permanent it lasts far toooo long. Like a month at least for now. Really? a MERCENARY - a paid killing machine that can't get over visiting a basement after a month or two? Seriously???
  8. You might need to learn a bit about explosives though 🙂
  9. Yeah, I know I made the right choice and the old ones are at peace... CAN WE FINALLY GO PLANT THE ROOT? More sriously: what needs to happen for Wanda to actually give me her quest? I got the intel, I have the description to drop the shield on the Crocodile outpost, and I KNOW (metagame knowledge requirement is a result of a bad game design) I need to do a quest for her. Which she won't give me. On the last playthorugh she gave me the quest liek two weeks after I got the outpost, so yeah, "I don't care, go plant it yourself". Is there anything special that needs to happen so that she wakes up from the 'old-ones-are-happy' catatonic state?
  10. Definitely - spliting squad to another sector just to train a diffrernt skill is an unnecessary complication, showing lack of coding skill or good will rather than making any gameplay sense
  11. It was my msitake: I got a mod explaining the morale and it turns out that Buns hates Fox even in a different squad, and Barry has his own issues. Regarding the patch: yeah, the last patch INTRODUCED a bug it claims to have solved (movement range AP miscalculation), so yeah, looking forward sooo much 😄
  12. Actually not: her mechanical is too low for most locks and traps, so she is effectively uselss as a mechanic.
  13. My absolute favourite is Larry, because of his lines. Larry asking if Luigi is a plumber blew my mind 😄 Plus the sobriety bear theme (and his comments on anything related to bears, not to spoil too much). I seriously don't understand people's enthusiasm for Kalyna. Dumb as brick, childish, mediocre marksman, crappy leader, and.... no long-term contract bonus! I jsut discovered in my 3rd pplaythrough she's damn expensive! She costs more than for example Meltdown, if you hire her for 14 days. 600$ is a lot for a milita-trainer-wannabe-mechanic-who-can't-open-any-locks.
  14. I've spent 123 hrs. This game is addictive, has potential. Yet, some of the bugs are so obvious and annoying, that I think I'm developing sort of a Stockholm syndrome
  15. LOL, yeah, especially the camera freaking out on multi-floor buildings (looking at you, Good Place) 😄 😄 😄 The bugs are the worst. Like mercs not resting and forever tired, miscalculated movement AP, lock-in in combat mode (Good Place again)... The second worst is the lack of AI - enemies and allies are dumb and stand around (again, Good Place being THE. WORST. PLACE.). They are also overpowered so the only reasoable combat style is stealth sniping. Mildly annoying: very often bugged quest triggers, alck of any narrative explanation for events (like morale drops because you went to a certain sector basically). In general, once the game leaves beta it might be fun to play... oh wait...
  16. Sort of spoilers ahead, trying not to spoil too much though. I just noticed that after visiting the Hermit and going through the initial course of action, Barry now has VERY LOW morale and Buns has Low morale... Any clue as to why? Like - waht's morally wrong there? Or is it yet another bug that nobody will care to fix? And why is the narrative so lacking in terms of explanation?
  17. Not that many, and not that useful (as I recall). The best are the R&R merchants, who sell magazines for 1000$ present in: Fleamarket (along with other merchants who have nothing useful and their stock doesn't change: - Molotov @ 800$ - Modded Glock 18 @ 1500$ - Modded MP5K - Med Kit @ 1000$ - Knives - 7.62 WP Hollow Point @ 300$ - you can sell parts there Fleatown (only one stand) Then there is Istadi in Port Cacao with good but random stuff for crafting for 1 bag of CHF (well, GCF more likely 🙂 ) I sometimes visit the Old Lady in the Port Cacao Docks for HE grenades (1000$ for 3) I think. She also carries heavy armor (1000$), modified FN Fal (2500$) and a modified RPK (no idea). I do recall two stalls in Pantagruel Outsikrts (not sure) with some mustard gas grenades (?) and meds. Again, not too useful. You can sell 50 meds for 2000$ at the Sanatorium. The prices are as I remember them, so there might be some errors.
  18. True, but you fight once, don't care about setting up the militia everywhere, etc. Both ways have their pros and cons.
  19. My hint: trigger the refugee camp as early as possible. Taking Diamond Red and Wassergrab is far easier once the army wipes out the Legion, you don't need resources to capture and THEN defend. Just let them fight 🙂
  20. UPDATE: Actually I managed to 'retreat' (very brave, ran away from 0 enemies), but still that's a PITA and ruined my strategy & timing.
  21. The Challenge / mode should be called: DO NOT TRIGGER ANY BUG... Sooo, I decided to go with a playthrough with the Dead is Dead option and forcing myself to think more long-term and play more safe rather than relying on previous saves to fix my mistakes. What I haven't expected though, is getting stuck by the well at G6 just a few minutes after the enemies have left, while still being locked in conflict mode. In other words: I am in a conflict, but have 0 enemies on the map. Can't progress time, can't reload the sector-enter save, etc. Basically my playthrough is over, because of poor quality coding and a bug that hsould have been caught and elimianted before the release. I can walk around the sector (which doesn't progress the time either), and admire the view of the well at 21:03. FOR. F... EVER. Great job.
  22. Yes, it does: the breacher type. But more important: why would you build a marksman towards a shotgun usage?
  23. You're kidding, right? That was the most un-challenging fight from all the 'storyline' ones. If you do all the stuff required to 'lower the shields' then the first few enemies can be taken out silently without even starting the combat. I don't know if there is any scripting except for one order from the Major, because no other named enemy even had a chance to do anything - 3 marksmen / snipers + 1 explosive expert clean this map without any issue (of course on First Blood, I hope higher difficulties will actually make the game more challenging).
  24. The ONLY disappointing merc in the game is exactly Kalyna. Wisdom level of barn door, she just doesn't progress at all. Useless as a mechanic, requires a LOT of time to become a decent marksman and the armor-negating attack is not relevant if you understand what AP ammo is. She has no advantages at all.
  25. OK, I haven't considered the wisdom stat - that might be the answer, and a reason to get rid of Kalyna.
