Wigen
As in the title - what weapon in the game do you like the most. Was it the most heavily loaded rocket rifle? Or maybe a rapid-firing Colt Commando? Or maybe a LAW launcher? 🙂 Of course, you can say the same about the weapons you hated the most. 😁 Edited December 7, 2021 by Wigen
Hendrix
Long time since I played JA2 vanilla, but I have fond memories of the FN FAL. And for some reason Grizzly tended to perform very well with the M14 during my playtroughs. The G3 and AKM tended to perform very badly however.
GODSPEED
"Help! I've FAL-len" has stuck to my head since the first time I picked up that rifle.. I think of that EACH and EVERY single time I watch, read or hear something about the FAL (and it's variants). For these types of games, I'm a big fan of high-powered rifles like the FAL, G3, HK 417... without falling into DMR and Sniper roles. In 1.13, I tend to like using the DSA 58 OSW (the carbine modernized FAL). or the HK G3KA4 (Paratrooper G3). Naturally, the HK G11 is a standout, but It always saw limited use due to the limited ammo. And for some reason, I always felt like the HK CAWS came too late in my game; when I would favor longer range or quiet night assaults. Also, I had started a similar topic a few months ago.. some of the comments are from users who aren't really around here all that much unfortunately. PilotiC
Nothing beats Ivan using the Dragunov! Such a cool combination. A solid runner-up would be the Beretta 92F & SKS. I literally purchased those two firearms because of this game. I would have also bought the Dragunov but it isn't permitted in Canada... I am very excited about JA3! I really wish your team the best.

I want a HK21K!

Yeah, don't get me started on the HK21, damnit!!! 🤬 😅 I love watching those ridiculous videos of those Americans (no insult insinuated) that hip-fire those fully auto beasts. I wish my keyboard would sound as good as that when I type! 🥰 I think I enjoy the "battle rifles" in TBS games because of the way most games don't really implement suppression very well. So I end up in more situations where I prefer a single higher damage shot than two weaker shots. Whether it makes sense or not.. ..oh, and also for "sexyness".

malloc256
The correct answer is the C-7. Man the descriptions were hilarious. Always liked the 5.56 guns more than the more powerful 7.62 simply because there is just so much more 5.56 ammo. 1

Yep, the small details like those really brought Jagged Alliance 1 & 2 to a different level altogether. Being a "violent" game, yet not taking itself TOO seriously. I really hope JA3 can at least try to do similar.. without trying TOO HARD.
Carl
Hey there, I'm also quite excited! I think AK and M16 are a must. As the game seems to take place in 2000 or so the weapons probably will be similar to ja2, which is alright. I'd love to see a good variety of submachine guns and pistols that have, in certain situations, advantages over rifles. In ja2 the small firearms and shotguns just got obsolete quite early. So here are some weapons I'd like to see: the .50 Desert Eagle, Walther P99, HK USP,and some nice revolvers! The Mac10 and Uzi should be there and the FAMAS Rifle definitely. Also the plastic-exposives and flash-grenades. Also different kinds of Anti-Tank-Weapons. It would make sense, that killed enemies drop everything. But to avoid too many looting stuff, they could drop highly used weapons that need repairs or maintenance and only drop little ammo. A great variety of different firearms would be great anyway.
Hendrix
@Carl? As in Carl "Reaper" Sheppards? Shouldn't you want some sleek high powered sniper rifle suitable for some rooftop sniping? 😂 Jokes aside, good points about having handguns, smgs and shotguns as valid options even during the later stages of the game. The stage of the game I enjoy the most is were pistols, smgs and shotguns are the "main" weapons.

No just random Username, forgot about that Carl, I should play another round probably 🙂 I could think of having advantages indoors or using less action points. Pistols used up strangely many AP's in ja2. Sniper-Rifles are an interesting topic too! They should only really have an advantage if fixated on a pod and they should take up lots of AP. So much that you will only get to a full aiming if you wait one turn in order to save some AP (otherwise Sniper-Rifles would be OP i reckon)
Taitungknight
Hi everyone, my first post here or anywhere regarding Jagged Alliance! I love X-Com and JA2. I haven't played Wildfire or 1.13 or any of the others. I had a quick look at 1.13, started a game, but couldn't read any of the inventory slots: there were so many of them and the size and fonts so small, and I didn't want to spend the whole game squinting. Intro out the way, I'll answer the OP's question, and then make some comments on what I'd like to see on JA3 guns. I'm not a gun nut, but I'm not completely ignorant either. My favourite guns in JA2 are the Draganov, the Steyr, the AK-74 and the Russian machinegun. I like range and fast firing. I felt the JA2 was lacking a decent hunting rifle. It had the SKS, but the range on it should have been a lot longer, 35 or 40 maybe. Slow, bolt action, but accurate and decent range and ubiquitous. Molotov coctails would be cool. Flammable buildings? Drop and roll if you're on fire, or take continuing damage? I think making the weapon improvements out of junk had promise, but could have been better. What if there was a lot more junk, and it was easy to do, but either the improvements weren't much good or they permanently damaged the weapon, ie rod & spring makes the gun fire faster but also degrade faster and require near constant repair? How about a silencer made from a can and duck tape? These improvements could be first tier. There could be a gunsmith shop in city no.3 that sells better quality guns, and also mod them. Drop off a gun, pay $1000, and pick it up a couple of days later with the mod you want. Or there could be different shops. A hunting and fishing shop in the first town sells shotguns and rifles. A shady weapons dealer has a boatload of AKs or M16s that fell off the back or a truck. Later he might or might not have a heap of something else. Bobby Rays exists, but they sell top of the line specialist models of whatever you want - fully suppressed submachinegun with subsonic ammo, thank you - but you pay top, top dollar for it. Oh, one other thing I was thinking about today while driving. Militia. Militia only get the shittiest, crappiest weapon available. The Smith and Wesson, maybe, and machetes. Level 2 militia only exist if we arm them. So either we run back and forth to gunshops selling all those shotguns we are picking up, or we use them to arm militia at key areas, mines and SAM sites for instance.
ghostmech007
Easily my favorite weapon in any of the vanilla games (1-BIA) is the M14. You can put that weapon into the hands of any competent marksman and you have devastating combination. Reaper + M14 + Flash Hider + Rooftop = Headshot city. In 1.13 the best weapon is easily the AI AWM. That platform is so OP it isn't even fair for the hapless NPCs. Sure it's expensive to shoot and requires constant maintenance to keep it accurate but having an overwatch fireteam paired with a two full squads on the ground and you can pretty much take care of anything. Image Miroir
I think to have tons of different guns shouldn't be that difficult in JA, and therefore they should do it to enforce the difference with other games. Among exotic guns I'd love to get: .44 magnum Mare's Leg (most probably I'm under the influence of Wanted TV serie with Steve McQueen Mauser C96 (an old but very stylish gun) PPSh-41 (with its 71 round drum) Sawed-off shotgun (one in each hand could make a funny character) Compound bow (Rambo...?!) Solaris_Wave
Deidranna carried the automatic Rocket Rifle. A unique version. I can't remember if she carried anything else when Sci-Fi mode wasn't on. That thing was dangerous.
Godzilla
automag was a really cool idea. a high calibre big pistol. developers could add a 10mm pistol or even a 357 one. deagles are probably too powerful completely unrealistic
LoboNocturno
At least we got 1 of the best rifles back in JA3 from JA2 with Stery AUG and the famous French assault rifle FAMAS will be there as well, good. Hope the G3 & FN FAL will be there also. Edited May 6 by LoboNocturno

You also have .41 Action Express, .44 Magnum, .440 Cor-Bon and .50 Action Express. I might have missed some others but with those listed, you have plenty of choice. There are also other large calibre pistols that could feature in the game. Then, you have plenty of large calibre revolvers to choose from. Hopefully, Haemimont will include some of those. Solaris_Wave
.50 Action Express is .50 AE. There are several .45 calibres. You've got .45 ACP (a.k.a. .45 Auto) which is mainly for pistols and some SMGs. Some revolvers will chamber it but .45 Colt is a true revolver cartridge. .40 Smith & Wesson is for pistols and some SMGs (rarer than .45 ACP). It was very popular at one point and was seen as a bridge between 9mm Parabellum and .45 Auto. Many pistols were chambered for it. It isn't as popular now as it was. 10mm is rare but powerful. Not many pistols have ever been chambered for it and I think (but I am not certain) that there has only been one SMG, which was the MP5/10. .40 S&W was seen as a lighter, weaker but more manageable 10mm, both for the shooter and the gun itself. You've also got .357 SIG in a few pistols. A powerful alternative but not really .357 as such. SIG did that to make it sound more appealing. When you think of .357, you think of .357 Magnum.
