I agree too that (obviously).. Unfortunately they turned Shadow into some bloke that would fit perfectly in the American Pie movies with his hairdryer wig. MrToad Posted July 12, 2023 Share Posted July 12, 2023 In the early going in JA2, when money is tight, I like Barry, Grizzly, Fox, Leech and either Igor or Grunty plus the IMP guy. Way back with JA, I would often start with Ivan (affordable then!), Larry (since Fox wouldn't join Day1), Grunty, Vinny and usually Ears for his magic ear. Kaboom was always my favorite explosives guy (other than Smoke), but he does have his drawbacks. Management for JA2 was different from JA, since you had more money up front and you didn't have mercs who would hold off until you had proved yourself. Also, helicopter delivery costs (in and out) in JA were antihistamine money. Not a problem in JA2. I don't know how it's going to work in this one. In this one, I don't know what I can afford, but Grizzly, Fox and Wolf make a great trio (or so Fox says, anyway), Ice and Hitman are easygoing, and Leech (if available) is amazingly cheap for his skill. Snake and Mouse never looked good for their cost, but I did use Igor for the same sort of approach, so who knows. I have to say that I've never used Meltdown or Red but maybe this time.. Trevor is the only merc with good wisdom, marksmanship, mechanical and explosives. Then all you need is IMP merc with leadership, marksmanship, and maybe just enough medical to apply bandages. StoProGratis Posted July 12, 2023 Share Posted July 12, 2023 My dream team is Shadow, Magic, Reaper, Scully but I bet there will not be enough money to get them on the start soo probally its gonna be Shadow + Steroid as mechanic and carrier + 2 or 3 from Hitman/Ice/Wolf/Buzz as someone who have a chance to hit an enemy with the size of an elephant + Barry Unger/Blood 1st is usefull for explosives, 2nd is usefull to sneak up right after Shadow. Shadow could be made way cooler, most people would agree with me on that. @StoProGratis Am afraid you would not be able to take Shadow from the very start since he is in the "Legendary" roster which needs a gold account first. But I believe these two points are pretty harmless as they don't influence the reception of the game while they may help us spend the day planning our first squads: 1. I.M.P. is available from day 1 (there seemed to be some confusion concerning it on Discord) 2. In Russian Let's Play today, one Russian player was able to start the game with both Igor & Ivan. "My Uncle makes me proud to be a Dolvich." Damn, why are legendary not available from start? I liked the chose of whole cheap squad or IMP+ one of best AIM so the first sectors were hard stealth game. Starting funds on the lowest difficulty setting (First Blood) seem to be raised to 40k instead of 30k This is good news, may in the hardest difficulty it will be 20.000, with that you can afford 3 or 4 cheap mercs (IMP + 2 or 3 cheap mercs) or get a more expensive merc & IMP (i prefer this way more, IMP, 1 veteran merc and may 1 cheaper merc so i would start the game very possibly only with 3) Cant wait for tomorrow, hope they added up more IMP models to the game cause in the beta there were only 4 models available. Completely off and probably the worst interpretation we have seen. Even worse than in any other failed JA sequence. 4: Raven: She is supposed to be a trained sniper? More like a trained house wife who can wield dual steaming irons. Unbelievable. 5: Shadow -> enough said. An insult if I may say. Should have looked like Bob-Lee-Swagger. He was probably the easiest to recreate and still this is the best they could do? Actually we should also not forget about Vicki; who changed here garage for some carreer in a Jamaican Voodo cult it seems. And Ivan.. went to a plastic surgeon because he wanted to look like his idol Schwarzenegger? Man, If only they payed more attention to the Mercs this game would have gotten so much more of the classic JA vibe. Then there are "Ivan" "Fidel" and "Steroid2 and as far as I can effort "Shadow". Hope "Ice" & "Shadow" will like again to work with each other.
